Administrator Raphael Jakob 456 Posted March 16, 2023 Administrator Share Posted March 16, 2023 The two-part series Society Islands XP will be continued – and that very soon! After the release of the first part Bora Bora & Leeward Islands, Maps2XPlane focused past year the development of the second part Tahiti & Windward Islands. And that development is almost finished! starting today with the landscape: As you know, the Society Islands in the South Pacific Ocean are geographically divided into two groups: The Leeward Islands and the Windward Islands. The latter are covered by the second part of Society Islands XP, namely: Tahiti, Moorea, Tetiaroa, Maiao and Mehetia. These islands are featured in the scenery package with a custom terrain mesh with photo-realistic textures: The terrain mesh is co mplemented with custom overlays: dense vegetation and country-typical autogen, as well as custom road-networks and sea-routes with dynamic traffic. Last but not least, a word on compatibility: After some deliberation, we decided that the initial version of the scenery pack should not only be usable in X-Plane 12, but still be compatible with X-Plane 11. It is planned, that this initial release follows an XP12-specific update, which will then also make use of new, exclusive XP12-features – as soon as X-Plane 12 is in a more advanced stage! maps2xplane 312
Short news update on Society Islands XP - Tahiti & Windward Islands: The scenery package has been "feature complete" for some time now, the beta tests are close to a successful end, and the release is already in preparation. To shorten you the time until then, I invite you to read the latest posting on our developer blog: As already announced - in addition to the three airports and airfields - we have now also included three heliports in the scenery package. The helipads belong to hospitals on Tahiti and Moorea. Specifically, these are Taaone (NTHP), Taravao (NTHV) and Afareaitu (NTHF), all implemented in exceptional detail.
