Within Germany, it is usually shipped with DHL. Otherwise UPS ... is possible. A DVD drive must be available. The DVD 1 is the license DVD and must be in the drive from time to time. For later updates you also need a working internet connection. All X-Plane 12 updates (within the X-Plane 12 cycle) are free of charge.
