My little brother is obsessed with this aircraft and I have a few doubts before buying it 😊

Hi, I'm Alicia and I would like to ask some questions and doubts :) I'm sorry if I sound silly, but I hardly know anything about this flight simulation world and I'm feeling very lost no matter how much I try to inform by myself 😅

My little brother Luca will be 10 years old the next month and we are going to gift him the Aerosoft CRJ 1000 for Microsoft Flightsimulator. We are from the Canary Islands, from a small village in Lanzarote, and in summer 2020 Luca was diagnosed with leukemia... Luckily we found a great specialist in Valencia and to go there from June to September we are going with Iberia Regional-Air Nostrum, which operates with CRJ 1000.

Luca has always loved airplanes, but until he got sick he had never been on one, and once he did he ABSOLUTELY fell in love with the CRJ. Sometimes, especially in 2020 and 2021 when there were fewer travelers due to the pandemic, the crew used to take him to the cockpit jumpseat and he hallucinates 🥹

So, he has been telling us for some time now that his dream is to be a CRJ pilot when he grows up and he ended up discovering the Aerosoft CRJ by searching information about the real aircraft. He is fascinated by it, says it looks and works just like the real one and that he will be able to learn to be a CRJ pilot in the future with it. Last Christmas we gave him a powerful laptop so he could do his homework and play Microsoft Flightsimulator and the rest of his favorite games the weeks he had to travel to Valencia for his treatment, and now for his next birthday we want to give him his precious CRJ 1000 simulator 🥳

So, these are my questions:

  1. Luca has been farming every day since a couple of months ago some Microsoft Rewards points with which he is close to redeem a Microsoft gift card worth 10€. If we buy the CRJ from the MSFS marketplace, could he use those 10€ of balance for it? He is aware that the trips we make for him are expensive for us and wants to help and save us some money.

  1. In order to buy the CRJ 1000, do we have to buy the other CRJ versions first?

  2. Does purchasing the aircraft include any liveries? If so, which ones? Luca of course loves the Iberia Regional-Air Nostrum ones and apart from that also the SAS and Lufthansa ones because we have some family links with Germany. If this aren’t included, could you recommend any place where I can buy these liveries?

  3. My brother currently plays Microsoft Flightsimulator simultaneously with his xbox controller, mouse and keyboard. Can he continue to do so with the Aerosoft CRJ?

  4. Does purchasing the aircraft include any realistic documentation? Luca is most interested in studying and replicating everything as realistically as possible. Also, I would like to know if you know any youtuber that has made good realistic Aerosoft CRJ tutorials or realistic flights in English (even if my brother English is not perfect at his age, I would translate everything for him without problem).

Also, from what I've seen, there are still few aircraft in Microsoft Flightsimulator with the level of Aerosoft's CRJ, so I wanted to thank you for doing such a fantastic job with my little brother's favorite aircraft. It’s so good for him feeding such an amazing passion for the aviation

I also want to share with you this drawing that Luca made a few months ago and that he has hanging on the door of his room since April when he started studying the aircraft and some pictures that I have taken this summer in the CRJs ❤️

*Excuse him for the "Airsoft" thing 😂

Thank you in advance for your time and help 😊

Hello Alicia. At first let me tell you my best wishes for your brother for his fight against leukemia.

To your questions i recommend to go to Aerosoft shop and read the description of the CRJ, there will some things get cleared about the liveries i.e.

When you want to buy the CRJ 1000, you have to take the complete bundle with 550/700/900 and 1000. The 550/700 are sold seperatly, but 900/1000 only as an extension...

If you want more liveries, take a look in the following link:

https://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/forum/1089-new-uploaded-liveries/ If i see right, these are all for free.

I guess it should be possible to stear the CRJ with Controller, Mouse and Keyboard.

About purchase via Sim Marketplace i can not say much, as i do not use it.

I hope to help further a bit.

Hello Alicia,

I don't know any of the answers to your questions, but I wanted to wish your brother all the best, and say thank you for sharing his art!

  1. I am not sure, but I believe it will work.
  2. Yes, the larger versions are an extension of the smaller ones.
  3. Yes, we include some liveries, but there are hundreds more available.
  4. Yes, it is not the easiest, but it works fine.
  5. We have extensive manuals https://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/167870-full-manual-for-marketplace-users/ and start with these videos: https://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/forum/1061-come-fly-with-me-by-the-dude/

Thank you so much Mathijs, very useful for me 🙏🏻. I have an extra question that has come to me these days. My brother has told me that some aircrafts like the Fenix A320 don’t allow you to save the flight and continue it later, could you please tell me if your CRJ allows it? It would be very useful for him, because he loves to replicate real routes from Canary Islands to Europe and sometimes he has not enough time to finish them in just one session.

In this case...I recommend you to just download this free CRJ from flightsim.to. Buying a 70€ simulator for a kid is like throwing the money in the trash, the free CRJ I have linked before will probably be more than enough for him and his controller

Mi brother wants the Aerosoft CRJ precisely because it’s a true simulator very similar to the real thing, not a free mod poorly worked and unrealistic. You’d be surprised how meticolous my brother is at its 10 years, aviation is his passion and when he plays he loves to study and replicate real ops and procedures as realistically as possible. So far, he has already mastered the A320 included in Microsoft Flightsimulator and simulates doing things that even the game won’t allow him to do because of how poorly this aircraft is done.

Do make sure he is aware of the PMDG 737. That's a kick ass add-on.

He absolutely is! He already asked us for it for the next Christmas haha. Between October and May, out of the summer station, he had to fly to Valencia in the Ryanair’s 737-800, so he also wants that aircraft hahaha. He says that he’ll be happy having just 3 aircrafts: the CRJ, the 737 and the ATR (because it’s the common aircraft to travel from an island to another here, anyway there is none available to buy yet). Anyway PMDG didn’t released the -800 yet and he prefers to master the CRJ first so fortunately we can save any money for him in the meantime 😂.

I've cleaned up this thread to get the topic back on track, as the poster of the rude comments has been banned. To reiterate our stance, there is no minimum age you need to be to fly the CRJ, and there is definitely no need to be rude to anyone young wanting to get into, or, further into flight simulation.

Personally, I'd like to see Aerosoft donate a copy, but if not, I'd be happy to do so. Get better, Luca!

We definitely will be! As an apology for the mess caused in this thread, and as we don't want him to be discouraged from trying out the CRJ, I'll reach out to you (@aliciaumf) via private message later today and get you hooked up with a free copy of the CRJ. We're looking forward to hearing about his first few flights!

Really? I'm speechless, really... Thank you guys so much. It's clear to me that Aerosoft and its community are wonderful even though there can always be a black sheep anywhere (this Martin Agua guy… He even found me on Instagram to insult me. I don't take him seriously. My brother also deserves to have illusions and interests, especially if they are as positive as in this case). I am very happy to know that my brother is interested in belonging to a community where people help each other as much as they can and collaborate with each other to make the experience better for everyone. Being used to gaming, I never imagined that on the Internet could find a community as healthy and positive as the flight simulation is... Thank you very much, really, this will allow my brother to enjoy your CRJ in his summer vacations, no doubt that I will also give him some Aerosoft stuff like Canary Islands scenery, etc... You deserve the best and all our support as customers in the future, we will always keep this in our minds ❤️❤️❤️

I have already received the CRJ from the Aerosoft team. Thank you very much to the whole team, specially to Tom and Mathijs for appearing in this thread and helping me, from the bottom of our hearts ❤️❤️ (Luca has been looking at all the interior and exterior model of the aircraft and all the EFB options for about 2 hours now. Now he is so excited and says that he wants to study all the documentation first to avoid making a fool of himself on his first flight hahaha 😂).

There will always be people complaining about this or that or being so impatient, but of course it’s clear that Aerosoft is a wonderful team with an incredible humanity. You guys deserve all the best and all the confidence and support of your customers. Of course you have won us forever with this incredible detail, we will keep an eye on your projects (I can guarantee that we’ll be the first to buy your future A330 haha). Thank very much again ❤️.

I’ll open another post, probably in the next days or weeks, to give you guys updates on Luca’s progress and stories with the CRJ. I hope you can imagine how heartwarming it is to see a child with so much illusion and excitement to learn 🥰.

There's an excellent video series by The Dude (linked here on the forums, or search Come Fly with Me on YouTube) that might get him up and running with it a little quicker. There's also the the tutorial in one of the manual volumes.

It's good to read the entire thing, but doing it all at once before touching anything, it kind of blends together and you forget stuff IMO.

Plenty of time to read the manual in cruise 😉
