Confused about Twin Otter Power Settings

Based on what I get out of the manual and from on line posts and youtube videos I should be setting cruise power at about 40 PSI torque and 75% prop rpm.  If I set those values I fall out of the sky.  I have to set prop rpm to 89% at a 40 PSI torque to maintain 140 KIAS.   I don't understand what the problem is.

Which one, the wheels or amphibious? What altitude and temps?

Either way, max cruise is technically 50PSI torque and 92% Np (at least for the -300). Anything below that is acceptable and flyable; you just get more documented performance results at those specific torque and prop settings in the manual.

Things that may drop you out of the sky:

- Temps too high in cruise (like +30 or something ridiculous)

- Ice accumulation

- Forgot to retract flaps

- Waaaay overweight
