Nav Database needs to be updated

Like the tile suggest the nav database is pretty garbage. Benn waiting for a while from posting hoping that it would get updated but it hasnt. For example the GOSHEN8 arrival into KGYY has clear altitude restrictions at 11000A and 10000A  but the CRJ puts them at around 25000. annoying to have to go in and change all altitude constraint.

TBH, your apporach is quite annoying. When you look at the charts, it says "Expect..." and that means that you have to wait for ATC to get a clearance. And as there is no real ATC in the sim, you can enter it manually for better VNAV guidance. So nothing wrong with the navdata, which btw. reflect real world data.

So what are you waiting for?  Update your nav database.

I've been using 2205 since the day it came out.

Expect is not a "clear altitude restriction".  It is EXPTECT.  I knowledgeable read of the chart would also show there are zero At or Above 11000 or At or Above 10000 restrictions.   If you don't get what you expect you can then do what you want.  For example you expected sympathy from folks for not understanding charts.  You can now do what you want with the information you have been given.  What you should do is apologize for your post for assuming your ignorance of navigation charts is somehow the fault of AS and the people associated with AS.

Navigraph, or from the MSFS one? ( which does get updated itself anyway ). I can't remember if a stock CRJ install reads  it's own database or the core MSFS one, and if it doesn't, if there's a way of updating the CRJ.

To make it clear:
- The Aerosoft CRJ comes with a database based on a cycle valid when it was released (AFAIK 2105).

- It does not use the MSFS database
- the database can be updated with datasets provide by Aerosoft (based on Lido) or Navigraph (based on Jeppesen)

Sentence by sentence:

  • OP's opinion. The example given in the third post above and the third bullet below explains why others disagree.
  • Another misunderstanding or unrealistic expectation by the OP. As noted above, it came with a nav database current at release of the CRJ. Nav databases incorporate changes every 56 days (or occasionally sooner if needed) and updates are available for purchase from Aerosoft or Navigraph and run something over $70/year. Did you seriously expect that to be provided free with the CRJ?
  • Nope. OP appears to misunderstand the meaning of "expect" in the context of a clearance, as noted by replies.
  • Altering restrictions automatically entered by the nav database for any one of a number of reasons is part of real life IFR. Even the default Cessna 172/G1000 (or the mods available) requires this. If you find having to alter an entry in the FMS to accommodate this is "annoying," it seems likely nothing with a programable GPS or an FMS will make you happy.
