All Aerosoft Aircraft (and most Aerosoft scenery) Suddenly Stopped Functioning P3DV5.1

As the subject says, here one day and gone the next: All my A318/319/320/330 planes and 18 of my sceneries suddenly stopped appearing in P3DV5.1.

This appears to have happened after installing an ORBX airport.

Where do I start troubleshooting?

Thanks

I would say, somehow one the two add-on.cfg files was altered.

Deleteted your old entries, non sequential numbering in the file, or somehow corrupted.

I suspect you are correct. I did not know that there are two add-on.cfg files. I have examined them both. The first, located here

C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5

appears to be corrupted when opened with Notepad (copy attached), and I can't read it. I believe this is the one P3D updates each time it runs.

The second, located here

C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5

appears normal (copy attached) but does not contain any reference to the missing aircraft or scenery.

Don't know if it's relevant, but all the symptoms occurred quite suddenly after I installed an ORBX airport, and remained after I uninstalled it.

Further suggestions?

Thanks

add-ons.cfg add-ons.cfg

So you are confirming that one of the add-ons.cfg is corrupt.

If that's the only alternative I will do so but it will require a lot of time.

Important question: do I run the uninstall programs for each of the missing planes/sceneries before I reinstall them?

Thanks, I think 🙂

Yes, the larger file is corrupted. A lot of chinese letters in the last line.

You can add the missing lines all by yourself, if you know where the add-on.xml files are placed.

Best is uninstall reinstall of the missing addons.

Attached the fixed file. But the old entries are still missing.

add-ons.cfg

Thank you for sending the file. Using ORBX Central, I was able to get it working again, but of course without the missing Aerosoft scenery/aircraft.

I intend to try to restore the missing entries. Uninstall/reinstall would be very time-consuming, and I had problems with (Aerosoft) uninstall failures. I am carefully examining all relevant cfg/xml files, and I will try to reconnect one scenery and see if it works.

About what you said here:

"You can add the missing lines all by yourself, if you know where the add-on.xml files are placed."

Which add-on.xml files are you referring to?

I have found that each installation of an Aerosoft scenery/aircraft has an add-on.xml, such as the one for EDDB (attached). Is this what you mean?

Any help you could provide about what cfg/xml entries Aerosoft installers make during installation would be most appreciated.

add-on.xml

Yes, this type of xml files are registered in the add-on.cfg.

You can also check if there is a backup file of the corrupted one in the same folder. Some installers create a copy of the file before the installer does any changes.

They have sometimes a different file type, but can be opened with a editor.
