FYI: No CoPilot in external view, and how to fix

Recommended Posts

There is bug(feature) implemented in SU5 which makes the co-pilot invisible in external view.

This bug can easily  fix by change flight_model.cfg file.

By default CRJ config we have

station_load.0=419,  -21.3, 0,  1.5, TT:Pilots, 0

To correct bug(new asobo behaviour) you need:
1. Split Pilot/Copilot in station load
2. Count max_number_of_stations
3. Change for pilot and copilot last number. 1 - pilot, 2 - copilot.

Something like this it should look like

station_load.0  = 170,  -21.3, -1.5,  1.5, TT:Pilot, 1
station_load.1  = 170,  -21.3,  1.5,  1.5, TT:CoPilot, 2

Then all models will visible again (Pilot and CoPilot)

Are you sure that this doesn't mess up the weight and balance since the number of stations as well as their mapping changed? For example, what has previously been loaded into station 1 is now loaded at the copilots position, while station 2 is loaded at the previous station 1, and so on.

It is located in Community/aerosoft-crj/SimObjects/Airplanes/Aerosoft_CRJ_700. When you bought the plane in the ingame store, the file is probably encrypted. In addition, as pointed out above, you shouldn't apply this change because it probably messes up the W&B.

Is there any way of fixing this for those of us who bought the CRJ from (regrettably) the ingame store?

A missing copillot is quite an eyesore, spoils an otherwise wonderful picture from external view...

I also see the pilot! The issue is the copilot.

I just reinstalled the plane via the Marketplace, however, my copilot is still missing...

There is usually never a copilot in cockpit view. The tip in post #1 doesn't bring it either.

It can be added by modifying the plane's files. The general method is described here:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/tip-add-a-copilot-to-your-aircraft-and-passengers-too/351556/18

However, I wouldn't recommend to do so if you don't know what you are doing.

You shouldn't use that anyway. As discussed above already, this will most likely mess up the W&B of the plane, since it will load the weight of the passengers of the forward cabin to the position of the copilots seat, while all other weight is shifted forward by one position.

I suggest to pretend that the copilot is inspecting the lavatory ;)

Thanks for that. But this is not the way i prefer (at least i could if i want).

That is another poor issue, as the CRJ is designed to be flown by two pilots. In all my other addon planes i can switch the copilot on and off via the efb...

I have added this to our bugtracker, thanks for the reports.

Did you add only "visible from outside", or to add a copilot generally?
