A330 flight controls

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys, hope you are all doing well.

I'm trying to do my first flight in the 330 and am having some queries with the flight controls.

If I rotate and let go of the stick, is the aircraft meant to keep pulling back and start to do a barrel roll?

The same with roll left and right, you let go and it keeps rolling over and over like a washing machine.

Thanks,

SD

What controller hardware are you using?

Did you make any asssignments through other software like FSUIPC?

I dont use these controllers, but what we have seen is that in many cases were some other key/stick bindings left causing problems. So please check this too.

Here is a GIF of what I am experiencing, you can see the controls being moved, and then I let go of the stick. You can see it sticking over to one side after being let go.

calibration problem?

That's what I thought, but it seems to be snapping straight back in the USB game controllers.

Hi Tcas,

A very basic question please :

Do the controls in the simulator visually correctly follow the Thrustmaster hardware ones ?

Thank you.

Hey SimWare, it looks like it does, the one in the sim looks like it could move a bit more though. But if I love left it goes left and if I go right it goes right.

Hi Tcas,

Two questions :

1 - Have you checked the sensitivity and null zone in P3D (sensitivity to MAX and null zone to min)
2 - If you put the joystick to the left or to the right, the release it, does the stick in the simulator
come back to the center by itself like the Thrustmaster does ?

Thank you.

Hi simware, sensitivity is on max and null zone is on min.

But the stick in the sim does not come back to centre, it sticks with were it was left off.

You are welcome.
Next tests, please :

1 - Does the joystick correctly snap back n the calibration utility ? (see video attached)
2 - Can you make sure no other control has an axis or button assigned to the ailerons/elevator funtions in P3D ?
This could be a remain of some "rogue" default assignments.
3 - Do you use FSUIPC or is in installed on your system ?

Thank you.

@SimWare

  1. yes it does snap back like that in the calibration utility.
  2. I dont seem to have anything assigned to the axis'.
  3. I have FSUIPC installed, but there is nothing assigned for the A330 profile or even general profile.

Can you please :

1 - Close P3D

2 - Temporary remove the "Module" folder in the P3D root folder. (see pic below)
(simply cut-paste it onto your desktop)
3 - Restart P3D as administrator

Hey mate, that seems to have done the trick. So something within FSUIPC must be interfering with the controls?

Yes, most likely.
I have seen it before with several different aircrafts.

FSUIPC seems to sometimes have some cleanup issues when a configuration changes.
Some assignments aren't correctly reset.

Usually, after a fresh reinstall of FSUIPC, everyting is back to normal.

Please let me know if this isn't the case.

Happy flyings !
