CRJ 700 won't go down in final approach

Hi everyone,

A small difficulty I have when I want to land with the fantastic CRJ700 : I go down as required (no problem) and, about 4 miles from the runway, instead og going down for touchdown, my plane stops descending and sometimes goes up again when my speed is correct and tha altitude meter is on zero or 100 ft. Why is that? it should normally carry on going down to land. This is infuriating, really!

Could anyone help me and tell me what I do wrong?

Thanks a lot

Regards

Not sure what's going on with this plane. I know the ILs doesn't work, but flying RNAV approaches is hit and miss, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I will be level and stable at the correct altitude, I increase the set altitude to something like 2000-3000 ft above my current alt, when I reach the descent point and go into V/S mode and select  minus descent, sometimes it works perfectly and descends at the rate I have manually set, other times it just doesn't descend.

At least it forces you to practice manual landings, but would be nice if it just worked and 'I' could choose when to do a manual landing :)

Why would you do that? If you want to descend, you need set the altitude selector to an altitude below your current altitude. Vertical speed mode needs an altitude target. If you are at 10,000 feet, and want to go to 5,000 feet, you would first dial the altitude selector to 5,000, then engage VS and dial in a descent rate (such as -2000 FPM). The aircraft will then descend and automatically level off upon reaching 5,000 feet.

He is referring to an RNAV approach. And because on an RNAV approach you don't suddenly want to level off when you need to follow a constant descent angle to the runway, you unlock the altitude so you can use V/S mode for the descent.

Exactly. En route descents yes, you set the altitude you want to descend to but on SCDA approaches you don't always set the altitude selector to a lower altitude. Normally once we're past the FAF we'll set it to the missed approach altitude even though we're still going to be descending to the MDA/DDA altitude. It prevents the AFCS from going into ALTS CAP mode when we don't want it do. Going into ALTS CAP can cause the plane to deviate from the SCDA path.

Thanks, Mathjis! This is an impressive list and it appears my top three issues should be fixed in this update (throttle behavior, zig-zagging, and glide slope). Is this a complete list of fixes or are there some items that didn't make the release notes? If not, is there anywhere we can see a list of issues that are still being worked on for the next release? I'm still hoping for the following issues (which have been the subject of other threads on here) to be addressed:

- Incorrect altitude values being displayed on the DIRECT-TO page for advisory VNAV even when the correct values are entered on LEGS

- DIRECT-TO functionality doesn't always work correctly (adds a {0} waypoint and doesn't begin turning immediately)

- Sounds repeating incorrectly (minimums, please remain seated until we are stopped, etc.)

- Issues with holds

- Top of descent sometimes shows 0 fuel

- Unable to transmit on COM2 (which is needed for POSCON)

- Unable to copy wind information on FMS

- Variable not being set correctly to trigger Mode C on vPilot (which is needed for VATSIM and POSCON)

- Unable to clear altitude and speed restrictions on the LEGS page

Damn, I was really hoping the "off" illuminators for the packs would get fixed, since it seemed like a fairly easy thing to address. Hopefully soon... The rest looks great though!

Very soon.

Yesterday I was saying "a watched pot never boils" and today I'm constantly opening the Aerosoft Updater to see if the patch is already there...

He said in other forum that it will released tomorrow.

But I get you. I think I love this CRJ more then any other addon outhere P3d/MSFS and some bugs just get in a way :D With this fixes should be almost there tho
