Metric FL and Mach Speed Accurate Changes

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was planning today a trip from EDDP-WSSS, the route will fly through Turkmenistan airspace which is metric as per attached photo (BODKA P130 MAMED B449 RANAH), PFPX added a step climb on BODKA with metric FL, however, it did not change back to imperial FL after leaving Turkmenistan at RANAH. I changed my payload to make no step climb at Turkmenista, PFPX ignored metric FL changes as you see in below 2nd FPL.

I noticed same thing with speed changes to Mach during NAT operation, following flight EDDF-KORD as per real life FPL

What could be wrong? is it normal and I need to changed it manually?

I am using PFPX 2.04 with following updates:

- RAD Restrictions and Directs 2103 by Sharky

- PFPX CruiseTables.dat By srcooke

- PFPX FIR.dat modification 1.0.3 By srcooke

I have adjusted the Turkmenistan region to SA RVSM levels and uploaded a new file HERE

I do not believe there is an issue with the NAT exit, ICAO guidelines permit the use of Knot or Mach in the f/p submission. Oceanic portions of the route should be in Mach.

PFPX returns to Knot at the domestic entry, so neither the R/W or  PFPX entries appear incorrect.

Quote

Cruising speed—State true airspeed (TAS). Choose appropriate term:
1. Kilometers per hour, shown as “K” followed by four numbers (e.g., K0830).
2. Knots, expressed as “N” followed by four numbers (e.g., N0250).
3. Mach number, using the nearest hundredths of unit preceded by “M” (e.g., M082).
Note: FAA air traffic facilities do not accept speeds in metric terms.

I updated the files but still PFPX will not change to metric at BODKA

I have not yet achieved 'Kilometers per hour' linked to flight levels in feet.

Is there a requirement to use kilometers per hour posted in an official document as a deviation from ICAO practice?

The main correction posted is the flight-level correction.

I really don't know and I did not see any such documents, am only following BOX real flight plan for that leg and I saw them changing to K speed. so maybe you know more than me

regarding FL, i tested it and made step climb in middle of Turkmenistan airspace, working well. thanks for efforts

I'm no expert here Jehad so any input from a dispatcher on the issue would be welcome.

Previously the region would have used kilometers/meters, maybe with the change to RVSM flight levels they retained the speed format, but I'm not sure that is programmed into PFPX.
