CDU does not show a destination runway and other times it does?

Recommended Posts

I notice that sometimes the CDU does not show a destination runway and other times it does. Where it didn't show the runway it also had no TOD so I thought it might be worth mentioning.

The FMS flight plan is attached.

YBTLYBCS

* No TOD

* No destination runway in the CDU. It showed MM15 which is the missed approach point for runway 15. Other plans show something like RW15.

* The ILS tracked to the threshold perfectly so it didn't affect the flight. It was very rewarding having it track to 1000 where I took control manually and tracked it to a reasonable landing!

Did you pull this from the FMS as an RNAV approach by any chance? I could certainly be wrong but I think it's normal on non-precision approaches for there to be no runway waypoint if there is a missed approach waypoint. If it was indeed an ILS then it's definitely odd.

WIth regards to the no TOD issue, do you have any screenshots of the first 3 other LEGS pages? I've noticed a few times now that even though I've inputted the cruise altitude in PERF, a different altitude will show up in my LEGS pages. As an example I put FL400 in the PERF page, but the altitude beside my cruise waypoints show FL390. In this case there's no TOD point. If I manually change the FL390 altitudes to FL400 then the TOD point appears.

Assuming that you selected the ILS15-W in YBCS, there is indeed no runway in the approach data. It's CS10 -> KASNA -> MM15 -> (INTC) -> SUNNY (DME Arc):

FINAL,I15-W,15,I,3
IF,CS10,-16.69926389,145.66845000,ICS,330.1,12.7,2,3540,0,0,0,0,0,0,
TF,KASNA,-16.73014444,145.68227778,0,ICS,330.1,10.7,0,0.00,1,2900,0,0,0,0,2,0,
TF,MM15,-16.85816667,145.74007500,0,ICS,330.1,2.3,0,0.00,1,219,0,0,0,0,3,1,
CI,1, ,0,30,1,3700,0,0,0,0,0,0,
AF,SUNNY,-16.60166667,145.77500000,1,CS,0.0,15.0,42,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,

I think the "MM15" waypoint is supposed to be the middle marker and the rest is LOC/GS. Anyway, the missing arrival runway is the reason why you don't get a TOD.
