Dear flightsimulation friends,

I want to share with you a possible solution for the Dark Cockpit Errors after Restart.

I opened a new topic because I think it is important enough.

Possible solution my friends!

Delete the old Simconnect.cfg

Located under user/documents.

Uninstall KinteticAssitant!!

Normal behavior of the plane now!!!

A User of Youtube wrote that he has the same problems with the CJ4. Thanks to Brandon.

I tried it and Bingo.

Have a nice day.

Cheers

Uwe

First, a big thank you to you, Uwe for figuring this out.

I have one request: Could someone who has the dark cockpit problem please send me their OLD Simconnect.cfg before deleting it? I would like to test it myself and then forward it to Asobo for checking. I already got one, but more would be nice for comparison. Thank you.

Please confirm in this thread whether Uwe's solution works for you or not. Thank you!

Edit: Glue applied to this thread.

Uwe sent me his old Simconnect.cfg and I got the problem already on the first start, so it really seems to be the cause!

I compared the Simconnect.cfg with the documentation in the SDK and found that it is slightly malformed. Changing [Simconnect] to [Simconnect.0] fixes the problem without having to delete the file. This allows you to use both, the CRJ and Kinetic Assistant.

[SimConnect.0]
Protocol=Ipv4
Address=127.0.0.1
Port=500

I'm going to wait for a few confirmations that the problem is really gone and then move this into the FAQ section.

SimConnect.cfg

EDIT: I just talked to the developer of Kinetic Assistant and he said that the latest version doesn't use a SimConnect.cfg anymore. So, the better solution is to get an update from here: https://msfs.touching.cloud/mods/kinetic-assistant

Hi,

Open Filemanager and open documents or Dokumente or something in your language.

There is the simconnect.cfg. If there is no you have no problems.

Cheers

Yes..it looks like problem is solved. No more Dark Avionics. LOL :)

BTW I have no idea what  Kinetic Assistant  is.

Not sure how I had my simconnect.cfg incorrect in the first place. but its fixed now.

Good find indeed. Thanks Uwe and Hans.

KineticAssistant is an utility for using gliders in MsFs.

If you have had an old simconnect.cfg under documents it is may be from P3D or even FSX.

This file caused the conflict with CRJ.

Cheers

Urgh, we are not fans at all of 'tools' that 'change' the sim.

The worst part, they sneaked it in without telling anyone. These addons should be boycotted as being Toxic addons. They are  a Nuisance and a hindrance to other addons we use. They are so intrusive and selfish, they are willing to sabotage the sim so THEIR addon works.

See the amount of grief and time wasted. But they pay no price for it.

I think I figured out how I got a corrupt simconnect.cfg file.. since I don't use the Thermal addon. I use the freeware for carrier landings. which uses Cloud assist. I think that may have installed the simconnect.cfg. I am not 100% sure. but that also could be another offender.

Yes and it could be over from a past Installation of an P3D addon.

Thanks to everyone who is helping with this problem, I will try these fixes, it looks like the problem I am having.

I have read the docs and watch dozen of videos, but when nothing matches the problem your are having, it's great to have other simmers to help.
