RNAV approach: is it working?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I tried an RNAV RNP approach for LFBP.

Latest airac cycle from navigraph, RNP RW31 correctly interred in the FMS, no FLP discontinuity

Fly IF at the mandatory Alt

After IF engage APPR mode, LOC correctly captured but no indication of the GS

After FBP31, the aircraft should begin its descent on the glideslope, but nothing happened

HasĀ  RNAV approach been implemented on this aircraft?

The CRJ is not capable of RNP approaches, at least at my operator. All Rnav approaches will need to be flown without extra vertical guidance using a CDFA/CANPA method by setting the V/S required to maintain the path to the runway just before (0.3 NM here) crossing the FAF. You'll use the LNAV only minimums. Youtube CANPA or CDFA approaches to get an idea on how to do them, can be a little complicated at first but in the end they are simple.

Do you mean that the CRJ is not programmed to accomplish a RNAV approach with both LNAV/VNAV modes in the real life?

Or that the Aerosoft CRJ for MSFS is not yet able to perform such an approach?

The real CRJ can do an RNAV approach to LNAV/VNAVĀ minimums,Ā but it will not fly the vertical pathĀ automatically. The pilot has to descend on the profile using vertical speed mode. The autopilot will track the lateral path automatically in NAV mode (not APP mode) but not the vertical part.

Ā

It is this way in the Aerosoft CRJ because that is how it is in the real CRJ.
