Aerosoft SimWare 729 Posted February 17, 2021 Aerosoft Share Posted February 17, 2021 VRinsight Instrument Radiostack A criminally underrated product ! Microsoft Flight Simulator – Prepar3D – Xplane - FSX Please login to display this image. This wonderful piece of equipment can save A LOT of keyboard/mouse actions ! When flying, what does require the most human input (beside basic steering) ? Well navigation of course ! Even if you are a pure VFR addict, you will have to communicate with the traffic control at some point and, in most cases, you are required to have a working transponder signal. But most of us are doing radionavigation : VOR, ADF, DME. We also don’t really want to hold a joystick to steer a plane in straight line for hours, so we use… an autopilot. All the planes in the current simulators, Flight Simulator, Xplane, Prepar3D, FSX, FS2004 include all this equipment. But they require a fair amount of mouse and keyboard input. Mouse and keyboard are intricate, unaccurate and unrealistic from an aviation standpoint. Therefore we have the VRInsight Instrument Radiostack ! One device – One USB connection – One driver --------à Eight functions ! - COMM 1 - COMM 2 - NAV 1 - NAV 2 - ADF - DME - TRANSPONDER - AUTOPILOT Moreover, and this is a HUGE plus : It allows you to operate the VOR Omni Bearing Selector (OBS) from the radiostack itself. Indeed, it would make no sense to turn a physical know to set a beacon frequency but click the mouse to set the heading ! Please login to display this image. This module is a big step forward in terms of realism ! COMPATIBILITY One same driver for all the simulators and all the addons ! A radio is a radio. From the smallest C172 to the biggest A380, the communication and navigation radio’s are basically the same. It means that the VRInsight Radiostack is compatible with the most popular simulators such as Flight Simulator, Prepar3D, FSX, FS2004 since all of them are FSUIPC compatible. http://www.fsuipc.com/ Xplane is also compatible to some extend using XPUIPC http://www.schiratti.com/xpuipc.html Please bear in mind however that this is an extra layer on top of FSUIPC. It basically fools the Instrument Radiostack driver by making it “think” it is connected to FSUIPC. We cannot offer any warranty it will work with all the configurations. (SOME) LIMITATIONS There are some (little) limitations : If a part of the stack isn’t implemented in the simulator, its counterpart on the Instrument Radiostack will not be active of course. Example : - If an aircraft only has one navigation instrument (NAV1 – VOR1) the NAV2 module will not be usable. - If an aircraft does not have an autopilot, the autopilot module will not be usable. HOW TO INSTALL A step by step procedure for Microsoft Flight Simulator This is maybe the easiest hardware to install ! You only need the free version of FSUIPC and the free VRinsight driver. We will guide you step by step to install the Instrument Radiostack on Microsoft Flight Simulator. Note : The procedure is the same for other simulators. The only difference is the FSUIPC version to download. Here we go ! * Start your computer.
