That looks fantastic .. and it couldn't be a better timing also!

I'm currently working on a personal project to add a layer of automation to HOPPIE. At the current state, the system supports automatic logon and would respond to PDC requests automatically (in a CPDLC Msg). The PDC clearance would contain the departure runway taken from the current ATIS, the ground and departure freq  (if exists) from AIRAC and still working on the SID. Next would be the automatic Oceanic clearance delivery and then add more support for other types of requests.

The motivation behind this work comes from the fact that most of the time , no stations are available on hoppie to process our requests, and also people who don't fly VATSIM  would not be able to use CPDLC capabilities of the upcoming A333 or the already available FSLABS A320, so the idea is to make CPDLC accessible for everyone.

To start/stop a station with automatic capabilities, just send a free text to AUTOPS station as in the screenshot and the station would become alive after a 60 sec maximum delay.  "START EDDF A." would start EDDF and the A stands for the station type (A: airport, C:center, O: Oceanic) . if none specified than it defaults to A: airport. It has no effect for now, but in the future , it would define which messages a station can handle for added realism (ex. an Airport facility will not process Oceanic Clearances or CLIMB TO requests ).

Please feel free to test the system and provide feedback or requests. If you have special CPDLC message formats that you use for the A333, I'll be happy to add them to the system. Also, do you think we can cooperate on the oceanic clearance?  Let  me explain: the idea is to make the A330 seamlessly append the flight plan or at least the oceanic part of it from the FMGS to the OCX http POST request (the pilot won't see it in the DCDU). This would be read by the oceanic station and used to deliver an accurate  automatic clearance. The same mechanism would be used to reply to the newly introduced CONFIRM ASSIGNED ROUTE message in the oceanic airspace. An alternative would be to make the user upload his callsign/flightplan to a webpage created for this purpose before the flight . Please Let me know if that would be possible or if you have better ideas.

Last thing, this is going to be a free service and will always be.

Sorry for the lengthy message!

Hello Amine,

I was attempting to try this, but I have no idea where to go - nothing that I see you have showing up on my MCDU.

Question to people that have experienced MCDU freeze after the update.

Have you experienced the MCDU freezing only after trying to print something? We are trying to figure out if the MCDU freeze is connected to the printed (sometimes just freeze, sometimes CTD) or if it's an isolated issue from the printer.

We have been able to recreate issues with the printer so far but no luck trying to recreate the MCDU freeze without using the printer.

If you do experience the MCDU freeze without using the printer, please zip the Data folder inside your A330 installation folder and send it to us. This folder contains important log files that we need to debug this issue.

Hi Secondator,

I don't have the PRINT issue, but I can confirm that the FMGS can freeze occasionally.  it did it three time till now. Unfortunately, i didn<t know that the cpdlc.log is erased every time you restart the sim so  lost all the info in there .  I'll keep testing and let you know.

Yes both froze towards the end of the flight. DCDU was on and both were on the FP pages. I had printed out a CPDLC clearance earlier with no issue but later during the flight from CYUL-KLAX, had to do an emergency landing in KLAS because both systems were frozen.

We are planning to release an update early next week that hopefully solves this MCDU freeze.

Until then I advise you don't use the printer during your flights. Also, if you experience the MCDU freeze again without using the printer at all during the flight, please let us know. We are particularly interested if this freeze is related to the use of printer or if it's separated from the use of printer.

Hi guys,

For users who are experiencing MCDU freeze issue with the CPDLC, could you please try these files and give us some feedback if they work or not.

Remember to backup the original files first just in case. Also if you still experience the MCDU freezing, remember to include log files (zip the whole Data folder and send it here).

Mine says WAITING FOR DATA, then say NO ATC DLK. I've tried everything I can think of. I have P3Dv5.1

I am not sure if I understand correctly but these are the standard indication on DCDU when no messages have been exchanged with ATC. The "NO ATC DLK" goes away when you logon to ATC station. Or does it not for you?

Hi, I have a question. How can I integrate the Hoppie ACARS into the A318 to A330? Is there a manual for that? If it doesn't work, is there another ACARS for where it works? Thanks in advance. greetings

I use P3dV5.1

Hoppie Acars is currently only implemented into the A330.

If and when it will come to A31x and A32x we will see :)

Just a report, I was able to actually go through and click the print, and the sim didn't freeze or CTD.

Regards,

EDIT: just after typing this, the MCDU froze lol... spoke too soon.

No problem. Happy I could be of some help 🙂

I look forward to using this cool feature.

Thanks for the logs! Now we are finally able to reproduce and fix this issue!

Glad to say the update is coming soon!
