PMDG honeycomb profiles

Nice you got it solved.

Normally this line should have been added automatically when you enabled PMDG support in the ConfigTool.

Hi @BenBaron

I purchased PMDG 777 after I had installed the Honeycomb Configurator tool, so even though after I purchased and installed PMDG 777, I went to the Honeycomb Configurator and re-activated PMDG and 777 profiles, it seems the tool doesn't add those two lines for data broadcast to the .ini file for the airplanes which are installed after the tool's installation.

The Configurator tool had added the lines to PMDG 747QOTSII's .ini file because that airplane was installed before the tool got installed for the first time.

My feedback is if you can add the logic in the Configurator tool to check for those lines and add them if they are missing, that will help customers greatly. Even a written note in the documentation would have saved me and others many hours of investigation and frankly would have added to my customer satisfaction of HoneyComb products. I'm happy with the hardware but the experience of getting them to work with PMDG 777, 747 and QW787 has been extremely time consuming and painful. In retrospect, I  WOULDN'T have purchased the Alpha Yoke and Bravo Throttle, if I knew I had to spent these many hours to get them to work.

As my contribution to the community, I ended up writing the QW 787 Bravo Throttle profile over the holidays which I posted on Aerosoft Honeycomb profiles page which at the time of this writing has been downloaded over 255 times, honestly that isn't my job as a customer to do that, that is the job of Honeycomb who got paid to provide these profiles.

Regards,

Jim Morrison

I have a Problem with the switches on the "body". of the Alpha (battery, power, lights, ...) - the button using default K: variables do work, the switches with the custom pmdg-vars do not.

PMDG is activated - using the 737NGXu Alpha profile from the AS-Download section, Profile is active and displayed after reload from the Sim-Menu (P3DV4.5)

Juergen,

can you tell me which PMDG L-Vars are not working? Also, just to add to the list of "standard" checks: is "EnableDataBroadcast" set to 1 in the "737NGXu_Options.ini" file?

Cheers,

Bert

Ok, that is strange, because they are quite common. In fact, the Aerosoft provided profile uses them. Have you entered them using the configurator or manually in the JSON file? If the latter, will you share one of the entries? Also, when Prepar3D is running and you open the addon dialog, does it show both the Honeycomb bridge and the PMDG translator?

I just loaded and activated the profile (which is the one provided in the AS download section) - no editing at all (...first get it running with default - then start editing 😉 ).

Maybe it helps that in the honeycomb profile GUI none of the variable assignments is shown

Hello,

Hoping someone can shed some light on what I can not find. I have been trying to download 2.0.0.1 version of the configurator for P3D V5 and it acts like it is starting to do something then no actual download pops up. Even tried opening the link in its own window and nothing. Am wanting to install the Alpha and Bravo profiles for the PMDG 777 and need the newest version to work with the profiles posted but I only have 2.0.0. . I also do not have the PMDG settings toggle option in my version which is likely because it isn't the newest. I have made a few profiles for XP11 using the software that are posted on here so I am semi-familiar with it.

Any Help appreciated,

Jason

Jason,

I have noticed similar behavior at times, and generally had luck with a middle-click (Open in new tab) in Chrome.

To ensure you draw attention from the Aerosoft team, who are responsible for the site, please ask questions in a topic with the title describing the issue. This topic discusses the PMDG profiles themselves, not the download site.

Cheers,

Bert

Ok, that is an important clue: The apps are very sensitive to the syntax of the file. Can you share it?

Ok, here's what I did:

  1. Download your file and rename it to something that does not clash with my current profiles, I used "Test - PMDG_NGX(u)_Yoke.json".
  2. Open the file with Notepad++, but any text editor will do.
  3. At the top, update the name in "SaveName" to exactly match the name of the file, excluding the ".json" extension:
    {
      "Version": 1,
      "Language": "DE",
      "SaveName": "Test - PMDG_NGX(u)_Yoke",
      "Data": [
  4. Start the configurator and import the profile, using "Actions" -> "Open Settings" -> "Import Profiles" -> "Select File". After selection, tick the box in the list and "Import Profiles".
  5. In the "Profiles" list I selected the profile.

Now, when I tilt the yoke forward so I can see the buttons, and select the "MASTER BAT" switch, and choose "Master Bat ON", I can see your assignment fine. What version of the configurator do you have installed? Mine says he is version 2.0.0 ("Actions" -> "Open Settings" -> "About"), but the download was "AS_HONEYCOMB_P3DV4_V2.zip", containing a "AS_HONEYCOMB_P3DV4_V2001.exe", so I guess I have 2.0.0.1. Since the Aerosoft site is a bit weird in its download behavior for these files, if you can't download the latest let me know, I'll attach a copy here.

Hi,

Sorry to report that this procedure didn't fix my Problem - all "normal" Key-Commands get through - all custom PMDG-Commands don't - (Light siwtches etc work on default Aircraft with default profile)

I suspect that the "translator" between the honeycomb-switches an PMDG doesn't work for me - maybe someone from AS can shed some light what that "PMDG activation" does (beside from adding that Entry in the pmdg-profiles)

b.t.w. in the "Profile Editor" I don's get a display of the conditions and value that are set in the profiles (json-files) but they "work" e.g. the "code" is carried out - maybe that's a clue

I think I'm on a trail...

looks as if the PMDG mapping dll isn't added to the addons.cfg - I'll try to add it manually and check if it helps

Hi Juergen,

this was also my suspicion. Let us know if that indeed was the culprit.

it was - I added the addon.cfg no joy (dll not loaded) so I used the ancient method of adding it via dll.xml.

Not very elegant but now it works.

I'll check that again - maybe some gremlin in the addon.xml

Hi everyone,

Just followed the step by step in page 1, but didn't work for my bravo throttle whereas the default profil seems to work.

Best regards

Hi Alexandre,

which PMDG aircraft are you trying out?

You've also activated PMDG support in the Configurator as well as downloaded, imported and activated the relevant profile from our downloads page? If you tick all the boxes, please attach your add-ons.cfg from "C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D vX\" so I can take a look if there is something suspicious there.

Hi guys,

just to let you know that version 2.1 which also adds the BBJ support is now available from our downloads area.

Please make sure you redownload the PMDG profiles, though as the old ones won't work any longer. Thanks to forum member Bert Laverman we now also have some documentation available which summarize the PMDG variables and events which can be found together with their respective profile downloads.

Hi. I really need some help as I am lost for support so far.

My Saitek rudder pedals stop working in the PMDG 737 ngxu after installing the Alpha Yoke and BTQ. They work in the PMDG 747 just fine. Any ideas as I have changed the axis in P3D, configured in FSUIPC, and removed the P3D.cfg file to rebuild the configuration. I usually fly the 737 so this is a huge problem.

Thanks for any help.

Scott,

this does not sound like a problem caused by the PMDG profiles, as they only deal with the buttons and LEDs. Also, it helps if you ask such a question in a new topic with a matching title, rather than "hitching a ride" on a different topic. I just happened to still get notifications on this one, otherwise I wouldn't have known you added a new question to it.

Now in your specific case, my first question would be if you bind the axes using FSUIPC or Prepar3D? I myself use Prepar3D for the rudder pedals, as most (if not all) aircraft use the standard "Rudder" axis for it. If you're using FSUIPC, are you perhaps using profile specific assignments? Then maybe the FSUIPC profile for the NGXu was lost and you need to assign them again.

Cheers,

Bert Laverman

Just downloaded the updated profile for the pmdg 777 throttle and all of the warning/autopilot lights are staying on when the profile is loaded. Any ideas?

You are also using the latest version 2.1 of the Honeycomb Configurator software?
