I imagine as we're nearing release, Microsoft / Asobo want to control the marketing and communications of the product as it will be a 'flagship' product for the sim. This is a whole new world of heavily commercialised simming from the sheer volume of new users, with significant resource invested over the last few years and there are new rules in play to maximise profits for all involved. The details you gave were really appreciated, and gave a real insight into the development of the aircraft. We now find ourselves in a position where MS / Asobo need to ensure they have oversight and control of this release in line with their own marketing and release models... and I'm sure this also means they would rather keep talk of issues with the SDK etc internal for now. Many, many of us are excited about this product and cannot wait for the release. Everyone should just let the gears turn and go with the flow a little. You have provided a reasoned communication to everyone, and that's all we expect you to do. I highly doubt that MS/Asobo have anything to do with the release of this airplane and the different communication here. Lets all just focus on the incoming software. Actually one gift was the crj, couldnt believe someone listened to me this time Merry christmas everyone!
Matthijs88 15
Merry Christmas, I don't predict a release before the end of this year guys, the Aerosoft marketing department is still arguing with Microsoft and Asobo about which screenshots they should / shouldn't use. Just kidding but it could be true...🤣😜 7 1
Popular Post slippingwithflapsin 43
Why don’t we just keep the predictions and conspiracy theories to ourselves and enjoy the holiday. Speeking of downvotes, had to add an extra up there, I try to make it so that your community reputation isn't hurt from just having the (admitidly correct, cough, cough) opinion. As said earlier: "This isn't elementary school". Let's not reflect too badly, if I wasn't a flight simmer and this was the first thing about flightsim I ever saw I wouldn't become one.

Exile1 62
So is this thread essentially now obsolete, or can we still ask questions regarding product features and such (as long as that doesn’t include progress reports)? If not, I’m not exactly sure what we’re going to discuss, in the msfs related product forums. BTW - I don’t care how Aerosoft conducts their communication, so don’t interpret this in any other way than the literal question asked. 4

One thing with MSFS2020 that I've been really impressed with is the overall lighting. I've seen numerous comparisons between MSFS and other sims where it's hard to see any difference in the scenery itself (they are obviously using addons in the other sims) but the lighting is what makes MSFS really stand out. It feels really natural and realistic, but there's one thing that really bothers me. Looking at the pictures of the CRJ cockpit everything looks super nice with an incredible amount of details but the shadows around every button, knob and display frame makes it look like it has been stored in a coal mine. That's not exclusive for the CRJ, those shadows can be seen everywhere (it's very obvious where the wings meets the fuselage) so it's obviously something in the sim core and from what I understand it's "ambient occlusion". I other games it does a really good job of adding that extra to the graphics but in MSFS it's so excessive that it makes it look cartoonist (in my opinion). I really hope they will tone it down a bit in future updates 2 1

kendry19 12
@Mathijs Kok I’m not sure if this question can be answered due to the new comms policy but I will try anyways. Is it still the intention to allow media personalities (serious streamers and youtubers) access to the CRJ before it goes out on sale? Cheers! 1

I asked this via the press team to see if I could purchase it in advance, and get it a few days before release so I can work on some content or at least get my head around the new aircraft to release content with it as soon as it's been released for sale etc. and got told no - no dates, no early access and so on

True. I really don't want to get into the speculation rabbit hole, but no early access to the larger content creators seems kind of "iffy" to me, if that's the case. Especially how many launches go these days in the gaming industry. However still confident to consider this a day one pickup for me at the moment, and still excited. Also was looking forward to the said preview video before Christmas, but I'm sure Aerosoft are doing all they can behind the scenes. Edit: By large creators, I'm considering the likes of: Chewwy, CptCanada, Jeff Favignano, etc. So they could have been talking about channels of that size. 1
Detail50 17
Happy Holidays, will the release be tied to a MS/Asobo update? With the releases now spread out, is the release at least going to be the next update or beyond?

devadi 13
Guys its easy, really. If Aerosoft decides they want to share something, they will, if they want to give us some extra insight, they will, if they don't then yea.. begging and asking is not going to help in any way because this is not kindergarden, it's bussines. I don't really understand the 'I dont really understand' comments on this thread. Things are like this because this is how they're supposed to be right now. What I got from this forum is that is likely to have a release sooner rather than later, we will have an amazing working and looking product, and behind the code we have some capable people who know what they are doing. Every reply to any comment is just an amazing bonus that we should appreciate. This should be more than sufficient for anyone who has any sense of patience. Enjoy your holidays!!
kberg 43
They have mediateam and partnered content creators to do marketing stuff for release so discussing it here wouldnt wouldnt give a freepass for early access 🙂 Time to give the Aerosoft team some slack now, its holidays let them enjoy it and wait for the release and ask for constructive questions 👍🏻😊 6
rsmith6621a 1
@mathijs I am excited to see the CRJ in MSFS 2020. Looking through all 45 pages of this thread has me excited. I purchased the CRJ for P3d a couple of weeks back for the soul purpose of learning to fly it so I would be ready when this gets released. This model looks spectacular and real in MSFS. and I can hardly wait. I'll keep lurking around here for any new news and information. Hoping everyone here is having the best the holidays have to offer. Randy
PRO-PILOT 13
i know alot of ppl may not like what i will say, but i feel everyone is losing the hype for the crj after what happened, who agrees? 7
Jetjockey10 5
I am trying to correctly identify the exact base models that Aerosoft is building for MSFS. 1. Is this Aerosoft CRJ700 commonly referred to as the CRJ700ER ? Is the CRJ550 also an ER model ? 2. Is the Aerosoft model a NextGen or are all the recent models NextGen models ? 3. Is there any external differences between the CRJ550 and the CRJ700 ? 4. Are any performance differences between the 550 and the 700 only because of weight differences ? 5. Will the cabin be built out with seats and overhead bins? 6. Will users notice any difference in performance between the 700 and 550 due to the delta in weight?
