Aerosoft Aircraft: CRJ

I’m just really excited for the CRJ. All my flights so far have been short flights between regional airports, which is perfect for the CRJ it seems. While big planes are neat, I don’t have the time weekly to fly long distances. I foresee this CRJ becoming the aircraft I fly the most.

We have decided on pricing:

  • The CRJ 550/700 will cost €42 (plus your local vat when applicable).
  • The CRJ 900/100 will cost €16.75 (plus your local vat when applicable).
The CRJ 900/1000 will require the  CRJ 550/700 to be installed on the system.

The product will sell on our shop and will be uploaded to the MS InGame Store at the same time. When it will be available there depends on how fast Microsoft can handle it. It is at this moment not planned to be sold on any other shop.

That’s what makes you an awesome team. You work hard to get planes ready early for the new sim, and then you surprise us with a way lower price than we expected ! That’s gonna get you a lot of new customers on your side !

Mathijs, Thank you for continuing to carry the water and partnering with Asobo to nurture our great hobby we all love (and our wives might snicker at).

My goodness, Marc, it feels like decades since I have 'met' you in a forum. How are you doing? Ready to try the CRJ in MSF? (to stay on topic ;))

May I guess it'll be released after the Sim Update from MSFS? You previously mentioned that you worked with Asobo to fix some stuff, and they'll fix it or have fixed it, so I assume it'll be fixed by the sim update. I also guess you have access to early builds, so that you don't have to wait the update to adapt for your stuff.

So, is the CRJ gonna be released after the sim update on the 22nd of December?

Thanks!

VR is a sim option, not one of the add-on, our add-ons will be fully ready.

I guess the question is in the case of the EFB how well that will translate to VR interaction wise. This has been kind of an issue for a few planes in X-plane where you had to interact with the EFB in 2D and then go back to VR. In the case of MSFS, that should not be an issue as In-Sim VR will allow for interaction with the EFB. I did read in this thread that there is a keyboard integrated in the EFB which is essential for VR as it would not necessitate removing the headset to enter information.

One question, will the EFB have a scratchpad to take notes? This is particularly important for doing VATSIM in VR. Great shots so far, been very impressed with the level of communication and openness by the team. We love flightsim and are ready to support developers.

After that Stefan needs a few weeks off because he has been working 14/7 for weeks.  I push people hard but if they threaten to kill me I back off.

I'd be careful about saying that publicly too much nowadays, with crunch in the gaming industry having become a trigger issue. Working similar hours on the regular, it doesn't bother me at all, but you may not want this kind of thing to end up on the radar of the Kotakus and all those gaming sites that cover flight simulators only when there's controversy to be had. 🤔

That being said, top respect for everyone who worked so hard to bring this to life. I hope you all get to spend awesome Holidays away from work 🤗

Those are my favorite kind of flights to make when flight simming.  Short and sweet.  Give me a departure, a little bit of cruise, then the arrival.  Keeps things interesting, and the brain engaged, the entire flight.

Hello!

I'm very excited for the CRJ in MSFS and I will most likely buy it immediately once it releases. It's definitely a good choice of plane for MSFS, I think. Anyways, despite its heritage from FSX, MSFS is only about 3-4 months old and there are things that continuously change within the simulator, sometimes for the good and sometimes for the... less good, hehe! This leads me to my question to you guys at Aerosoft, what kind of support and compability will we (customers) get in regards to the CRJ after the release?

Thanks once again to the devs and Aerosoft for all the hard work you put to the sim. Which I hope we all can enjoy very soon! :D

AS is into MFS for the long run. The CRJ will not be feature complete at release so you can be sure there will be updates along the way and support for years to come.

Going to defend PMDG here. Robert is a good friend and PMDG and Aerosoft have been working together for a very long time.

I want to apologise if you felt the need to defend PMDG. Many of us have very fond feelings toward them, and it was personally my first high fidelity aircraft. I'm excited to see what all of the third party developers produce, and each have their own 'style' if you like. As you said, some are for complete systems down, some are more a captains addon for realistic flights.

Thanks again for being so open with the community though... exciting times to be a simmer!

Great to hear, and I can’t wait to see what you guys do. As someone new to the flight sim community because of the new Microsoft flight simulator, it is so neat seeing the variety of companies involved in making content for the simulator. Can’t wait until the day I get to fly the CRJ out of my home airport of KORD.

This aircraft is so exiting.

I see an option for VNAV and setting other FMS options in the pictures above. Does this mean we have VNAV available for the CRJ? That will be so cool!

Also can the Flight Plan be directly downloaded into the CRJ’s FMS from external sources like SimBrief or Navigraph?

Thank you.

1. Can we please get away from the tail happy physics like all the default planes.  Tail of the plane wiggles around like a fish lol Almost looks like an RC plane. I know it was mentioned that you feel like the flight model is better. I hope thats true.

2. I'm super excited.

Well, I told you we still have open issues!

But talking about external lights.  Check out this image and explain the rather weird effect. First one to explain it right gets a free CRJ.

Is it the interesting circle shaped shadow thats detached from the rest? What is that being casted from?
