Liepaja Airport, Latvia for PREPAR3D V4.5 - V5

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the airport of Liepaja, Latvia. As I planned, it will be created in parallel with Bratislava.

The airport is small, only a few regular flights, one of them is Riga. A cozy, home airport for residents of Liepaja. The airport has undergone major reconstruction of the runway, light-signaling equipment. Also, the airport has a base for classes and flights of airBaltic Pilot Academy cadets.

I like Liepaja Airport, which is why I started doing it. Although at first I doubted whether it was worth starting work on the project, but when I started working on it, all doubts disappeared. I hope the scenery "EVLA" will find its user and will be attractive for virtual flights.

I started working on the project unconventionally. Started with the coastline of the Baltic Sea, which is located almost directly at the rate of 069. This of course will be the highlight of the project. The runway itself, the airport, I will show in 10 days.

And so, let's go :)

Quite a lot of work has been done in Liepaja over the past week. The airport is taking shape. Also added ILS which was not by default, corrected VOR frequency and runway numbering.

Today Liepaja looks like in the screenshots. Perhaps at this stage I finish the work with lighting, make models of masts on the apron and return to Bratislava.

Airport equipment is under construction. LOC is on a concrete base, next to it is a lake shore, a new VOR and ALS lights. Runway 24 uses a CAT 1 precision approach lighting system.

Revised runway coverage, lighting and runway SFL operation 24.

I am returning to Bratislava in a couple of days. In Bratislava, the markings have already been changed, changes have been made, the markings at LZIB airport comply with today's standards. There is a lot of work to be done on lighting in Bratislava.

Yes of course.

But at this stage, I spend all my time working with Bratislava. Bratislava is a larger project than Liepaja. This is due to the size of the airports, in addition, I partially make the city in Bratislava.

But the Liepaja airport project has not been abandoned by any means. I will work on EVLA right after finishing work with Bratislava.

Today is my day of rest and I decided to do color correction of aerial photographs of Liepaja airport, which will be included in the landscape.

Of course, you still need to work with the transitions, the water surface.

As I said earlier, the airport in Liepaja is small. Basically, the airport carries out charter flights, regular flights to Riga. But at the airport, there is an airBaltic cadet training base.

The highlight of the project will be the landscape. Beautiful nature, sea coast.

I will try to make a small, beautiful, and cozy airport. A city will also be made. :)

So, will be 2 AFCAD with Bratislava, right? Bratislava scenery is getting super attractive.

Of course, these are only sketches so far. But the airport is already taking shape.

I want to prepare the airport area and the buildings that are at the airport. This work will take me two to three weeks.

After that, I will try to export Liepaja airport to MFS 2020.

Liepaja airport is certainly not big, it does not have a modern terminal, design forms.

One of the new buildings is the pilot school hangar. In the lowermost screenshot, the hangar is the farthest.
In these screenshots, you can see the administrative buildings related to the airport. Further on the hangar are the utility building and fuel tanks. They will of course also be in the scenery.
Some rooms will have an interior. One of these rooms can be seen in the screenshot, but it is still unfurnished :)

At the same time, as I already wrote, aerial photographs cover an area of 125 sq. km. Runway 24 is equipped with ILS, which is not available at the default airport. The airport also has VOR / DME, despite its modest appearance, the airport has all the modern means of navigation.

The buildings at Liepaja airport are becoming more and more like themselves  :)

Inside the terminal, a scene with animated people will be implemented.

What I love about modeling is how a simple line makes a model. "In the beginning, there was a word", and in modeling, in the beginning, there was a segment :)

Testing Liepaja.
Well, the concept for the project has already been chosen and is gradually being implemented.

Although the airport is small, it is a lot of hassle :)

Details that give personality :)

Also in the screenshots, you can see the ground polygon, which I have already marked. It will have asphalt, curbs, lawns for grass, paving slabs. I tested it already when adjusting the dimensions. It remains to prepare the textures. There will also be fences, 3D grass on lawns, trees that are directly next to buildings, etc.
