When I try to start SIMstarter NG P3D I get a message saying that a critical file or folder is missing.

Here is part of the log from my last startup when I installed an update to V2.0.7 (rev 67):

The problem seems to be in this line:

Unable to rename file from < C:\aerosoft\SIMstarter NG P3D\up2date\up2date.exe.update > to < up2date.exe >.

How do I fix it?

Thanks and regards...Derek

Could be caused by permission issue, try to run Simstarter as Administrator (right click on the exe and choose "Run as....").

Or blocked by AV software, turn off your AV sofware while running Simstarter.

Not running AV software while running Simstatrer is not an option that should be followed, I don't think.  Make an exclusion for it in the AV software, but not running it is an invtiation to malware.

Sorry, but the problem is that certain AV software is simply causing to many false positives. And not running it while installing a trusted software is not really a problem.

And after that you should indeed exclude all sim related folders from being scanned.

OK, made an exclusion for SIMstarter in AV software, re-installed SIMstarter, upgraded to v2.0.7 (rev 67) and all works well now.

Thanks mopperle and Doc_Z for your input.

Cheers...Derek
