Short Taxi Issue

Recommended Posts

Good Morning,

YPAD gate 17 to Rwy 23 H/P. Very short taxi and can only get up to GS9-10 due to the extremely short taxi and corner.

What occurs is the taxi checklist does not then activate and I am stuck with the release parking brake and >10knots sign even after takeoff.

Can the developers please look at a fix for these type of circumstances and not being able to bypass or skip the entire taxi checklist so we can continue on with the rest? Otherwise checklist is a waste of time.

Thanks

Hanse is the guy to help you with this, but I wanted to get the process started by asking a few questions.

1. Which version of the A330 are you running?  The latest is 1.0.0.7.

2. When you ran the A330 installer did you first disable computer security and then run the installer as Admin?

3. When you updated the A330 did you first disable computer security and then run the AS Updater as Admin?

4. Where is the A330 installed to?

5. What frame rates do you get with the A330 while in the virtual cockpit at a default airport gate/stand?

Best wishes!

Hi,

first let me ask one question from my point of view: What do you mean by "can only get up to GS9-10".? The next question then: Which PB procedure you are using - GSX or the internal MCDU3 one?

If you are talking about the internal MCDU3 and the minimal distance of 9 feet: This is the minimum distance and this limit comes from P3D and has not been changed since FSX. We cannot do anything to change this because it is out of our responsibility. The only option I suggest is not to start the engines in such a case during PB but after if has been finished and the brakes are set...... I believe then the TXI CL should work........

If I am wrong please then please let me know the exact procedure you are using (step-by-step) and I will have a look resp. find a solution / work around for you.

Regards,

Rolf

Thanks Hanse.

Push back is with GSX. If you have a look at the charts of ypad from G17 to Rwy 23 it is short. I start both engines during p/b. GSX completes, get the notification to taxi but obviously due to the distance  I dont get to the threshhold that A333 requires to activate the checklist. Many aussie airports do have short taxis to a rwy depending on were parking is. If you see the chart of main parking in ypad it is restricted (even for a major airport). Im talking about the ground speed when I state GS and no there isn't room to go faster 🙂

Im not sure how starting the engines after p/b would change anything? Once engines are started wouldn't it activate the taxi instruction anyhow?

Even weirder is how the taxi checklist then decides to activate after im in cruise 40 minutes into flight?

Thanks for reply so far.

Regards

Thanks. There is no problem to start the engines after PB is completed -GSX proposes such a procedure in Northern Europe quite often in winter due to icing conditions! But now I got you problem e. g. you want to start the TAXI CL quite early e. g. not waiting until the plane has reached a ground speed of 10 knots! This is quite easy: In such a case start the CL manually from the MCDU3 menu..... !

Rolf

  • 2 weeks later...

Good evening, I also had this issue at a short taxi airport and read through this forum. I note Hanse stated to select the taxi checklist manually however when I attempted to do this through the MCDU or pressing 1 it does not activate as per picture below. All other checklists you can press 1 however the taxi one is prevented from doing so. Any suggestions?

Sorry I do not understand why you cannot see the TAXI CL on the MCDU3 CL MENU. it should be there in orange. Did you try using LSK4R to activate it?

Just one additionally remark: The TAXI CL cannot be activated by using 1 from the keybord. It only automatically activates when the plane moves more than 10 knots. Or by using LSK4R in CL MENU.

Rolf
