paulxyouxdunce 10
After takeoff when putting the throttles into the CL detent at the acceleration altitude instead of going into CLB mode the vertical mode on the AP remains blank. If the autopilot is inadvertently engaged (if you somehow did not notice the CLB mode is not active) the plane will climb uncontrollably into a stall. This is corrected by pressing the ALT knob to engage the climb mode. The post takeoff AP logic is incorrect but the situation can be rectified. Deputy Sheriffs Secondator 643 Posted December 10, 2019 Deputy Sheriffs Share Posted December 10, 2019 Remember to check that your altitude is set in managed mode (dot on the right side of the altitude on the FCU) before takeoff. This should allow the CLB mode activate automatically.

That being said its incorrect, once the altitude is set in the window, at no time on the ground should the pilot have to ever push or pull the altitude selector. Once the aircraft leaves SRS and above the acceleration altitude it should automatically go into CLB or OPCLB.
