Connected Flight Deck progress

Just wanted to report on the Connected Flight Deck. It's good. Every day many hours are being flown connected to test all functions, stability, and speed. As this is a server connected system the tests on speed are very important as it might mean we need to get multiple servers around the world. At this moment however things seem more than fast enough. The CFD system also means we need to do work on the displays as they will now need to be fully independent. This is currently being done and will of course also benefit non CFD flights.  At this moment we hope to have stable code on April 1st (bad date I know) and then will do an open beta on these systems.

Just to remind people what CFD is.... a short primer.

Connected Flight Deck will allow you to simulate one of the most important factors of flying, the crew coordination (you have NO idea how much time is spent on that in training). Flying an airliner on your own is unrealistic to a great degree. No real pilot would ever do that.

Our CFD uses a server-based system because that removes all the complexities of linking two systems over the internet, firewalls, routers (ports... urgh). The Captain starts the session and only has to send the other people the session ID. No messing with IP's etc. Not only can a First Officer join, but you can also have an virtual unlimited amount of observers. The observer mode is a bit like a game stream on Twitch or YT on steroids. You can follow the whole flight from inside your own simulator. You see all the systems being operated.  You can also pan your view around etc. You are really inside the cockpit. Imagine how this will make your flights more interesting. Of course, it is fully compatible with VATSIM and IVAO flight
