HowTo 010: Create add-on.xml by Categories

Background:

SIMstarter NG is able to create add-on.xml files based on a folder structure. The folders must contain the correct files and named as the categories:

  • Autogen
  • DLL
  • EXE
  • Effects
  • Fonts
  • Gauges
  • Sound
  • Scaleform
  • Scenarios
  • Scenery
  • Scripts
  • ShadersHLSL
  • SimObjects
  • Texture
  • Weather

 

In addition SIMstarter NG detects files from a folder "sceneryWorld" and copies them into "<YourSim>\Scenery\World" folder (or the one who has been specified in Programsettings. This folder must be named:

  • worldScenery

 

And SIMstarter NG is able to copy SODE files directly into "C:\ProgramData\12bPilot\SODE" folder. This folder must be named:

  • SODE\xml
  • SODE\SimObjects

 

Requirements:

  • SIMstarter NG v1.8.5 Rev 3 or higher
  • PREPAR3D v4.x

 

First we downloading the great freeware Castellón Airport (http://onfinal.dk/lech.php)

Unzip it:

Now we need to make some changes:

  1. The current "Scenery" folder contains a subfolder "World" meaning this has to be copied to <YourSim>\Scenery\World\*. To get that done by SIMstarter NG we just rename the folder to "SceneryWorld" (see red marking)
  2. We cut the "Scenery" and "Texture" folder from "Ecosystem\Castellón Airport" and insert them into the main folder (see blue markings)
  3. Preparation done, let's start SIMstarter NG

Start SIMstarter NG > Configure > Add-On.xml Manager... > New Add-on.xml

Enter a valid name for the new Airport > Click "Categories by directory"

Select the folder which you have prepared before > Ok

Apply that you want to add this categories

Please login to display this image.

 

After that he indicates, that "WorldScenery" files have been found and that they have been copied correctly

Click "Ok" to add your new add-on.xml file
