flyblueskies 1
Hi, I really like flying into and out of Gibraltar. But, the rock side of the Rock of Gibraltar seems to be very low resolution for me. I was hoping there is a setting or a higher resolution option for it, but I'm unable to find one. I have Gibraltar Professional for P3DV4.3, Version 1.10. I'm using a texture resolution of 4096 x 4096 in the graphic options in P3DV4.3. I also use ORBX landclass and their land textures are very sharp, when compared to the Rock of Gibraltar. Here's what I see: Please login to display this image.
Developer OPabst 2091 Posted July 22, 2018 Developer Share Posted July 22, 2018 Hi, that‘s not an issue related to the low resolution, the arial/Satelite photo of the scenery has 15cm/pixel, that is not „low“ It is simple the technology: When you have a rock with nearly vertical sides (in the east), the photo taken from the top has only some pixel for this area. When the mesh will now build the form of the rock, it will streach this pixels over the full high of the rock. There is no 3D Phototechnique implemented in the Sim. The only way for a workaround is to build the rock as a 3D model, but therfore you need also HD pictures from all sides and it is a very high poly object with many drawcalls (you need many textures here), so the frame impact is high.
