After installing and running the Aerosoft Airbus Pro and going through all the false positives with my anti-virus, I had a false positive when attempting to run the Aerosoft updater and it would not restore the .exe file that I need to run the updater.  Is there a way to reinstall the updater without having to reinstall the entire product?

 

In the first step you should exclude all relevant folders from being scanned. But TBH what AV software do you use that deletes files instead of putting them into quarantine and allowing you to restore them?

If it really works this way, there is no other way then to reinstall everything. And consider maybe simply using Windows Defender. Today there is no more reason to waste money for AV software or use other free AV software.

I am using Norton.  I went into the quarantine and found the file, clicked on restore and exclude and it asked me are you sure?  I clicked yes and then the file no longer showed up in my quarantine.  When I go to click on the updater, shows a file size of 0kb.  Not sure what happened there.

Can you show me a screenshot with the content of the ASUpdater folder (including file details?

I just found the updater file when searching for it and may have discovered the cause of the issue, even though strange.  When I attempted to restore the file, the file was not restored to the original location and was placed in another Aerosoft folder without asking me for a location.  However, even though I have admin rights to the folder, the ASupdater folder will not let me paste anything back into the folder indicating I don't have permission.  I can paste the file back into any folder except that one.  Also gives me access denied if I try to uncheck read only.  Not sure what else I can do other than ensure that each check mark for admin rights is checked for my profile, which I just verified.  It must be something simple I am missing here.

Just a question, do you have 2 "...\Documents" folders on your system and is one connected to MS OneDrive?

I have MS One Drive Drive but only one local documents folder on the PC.  There is no documents folder on my PC connected to one drive.  That would have been a good explanation though.

I may just have to do the uninstall/reinstall just to get the updater correct and then exclude once again while the AV is disabled.  Maybe a suggestion for the Aerosoft team to have the updater at least available as a separate download after the fact.

You should exclude all affected Sim folders from being scanned before you reinstall.

in principle a good idea, but then people would download it an complain later why their other AS addons are not listed. And as I separate download it would need to scan your installion to learn about existing addons and that is something many people (including me) dont like.

Some might complain even when it is working.   What I did this time is uninstalled, reinstalled, then prior to restarting excluded every possible Aerosoft folder and that did the trick.  I also noticed that an uninstall did not remove the Aerosoft folder from the documents folder so I deleted manually, probably something of note if anyone else runs into the issue.  In any case, I appreciate your help in trying to figure this one out.
