HowTo 002: Simulator shows old SIMstarter SplashScreen

This topic should explain what to do, if your Simulator shows an old SplashScreen from SIMstarter freeware with SIMstarter NG.

 

Requirements:

• SIMstarter NG

 

Problem:

The Simulator is showing an old SplashScreen from SIMstarter like this:

 

Solution:

SIMstarter freeware did a workarround to use SplashScreens by swapping the ".\uires\dlgsplash.bmp" file, which contains the SplashScreen. In some cases SIMstarter freeware did not reverted that file to the original one. SIMstarter NG uses his own SplashScreen management which shows a "SplashScreen window in front of the simulator SplashScreen" without changing files from your simulator (which is for sure the better way).

 

To solve it:

1. Search for the right SplashScreen "<YOUR SIMSTARTER>\ SplashScreens\FSX\FSXdefault.bmp"
2. Copy this file to "<YOUR SIM>\uires\dlgsplash.bmp"
3. Done

 

If you can't find the original SplashScreen please search in the internet for "dlgsplash.bmp"
