jhammer 19
Upon flying from KBOS-KDTW in the CRJ9, I was unable to enter a crossing restriction into the FMC. My route was RWY33L.HYLND5.HYLND.GONZZ.BUF.SPICA2. Landing was ILS21L via COUNT. I was unable to enter a crossing restriction of 12,000ft at SPICA. Also, upon reaching transition altitude at FL180, 29.92 kept flashing on the MFD throughout the whole flight.
swiftyc123 0
For the flashing 29.92, you must click the BARO knobs on the left and right bulkheads of the cockpit to stop them from flashing. Regarding the inability to enter crossing restrictions, I had some trouble entering restrictions at first but was able to get them in there after some different format attempts with how I was entering them into the FMC. At the moment I forget exactly how I entered the restrictions though. Apologies. Hope this helps somewhat.
Developer Hans Hartmann 3694 Posted May 24, 2018 Developer Share Posted May 24, 2018 Restrictions... yes. As usual in this aircraft, those are way more complex than you would expect Here's how it works: 100 - 499 = indicated airspeed for speed restrictions .10 - .99 = Mach value for speed restrictions 1.0 - 6.0 = vertical path angle Fxxx or FLxxx = flight levels for altitude restrictions -1300 - 0 = altitude for altitude restrictions 500 - 65000 = altitude for altitude restrictions Two values separated by a slash ("/") = speed and altitude restriction: 290/FL240 For altitudes between 0 and 499 ft, add a slash ("/") before the value. Altitude followed by "A" = "Above" restriction: 5000A Altitude followed by "B" = "Below" restriction: 7000B Two altitudes separated by "A" and followed by "B" = "Between" restriction: 5000A7000B Altitude followed by "C" = Change Descent to Climb Altitude followed by "D" = Change Climb to Descent I hope that helps. Don't expect "C" and "D" to work properly. I have yet to find out how those are supposed to work but so far even real CRJ pilots couldn't help me here ("I never used that....") jhammer 19
Sorry for the late reply back. I've had no issues entering restrictions with other STARS. When flying other routes into that airport, I had no issues. (Example: GEMNI4, I had no issue entering the restriction of 12,000 feet at GEMNI.) It seemed to be only on that particular flight plan.
