Christian007 0
Hello, I place this topic in the AES branch because I first stumbled upon it with AES, but it is of more general interest: With the introduction of VR glasses like Oculus Rift in flight simulation, some well-established concepts to control software will not work properly any more. This counts particularly for keyboard controls. Using VR glasses and eventually motion controllers or mouse, it gets really hard to touch any key on the keyboard if its function is not alternatively accessible from within the virtual environment. Tools like FlyInside have very nice concepts to import windows from the desktop or the simulator into the virtual cockpit. However, this does not help if pressing a key is required to open the window as it is the case e.g. for AES. Saying it shortly, a tool like AES is not usable together with VR (unfortunately. I have it installed and I like it, but it is really not practical). Therefore I would like to trigger a general discussion on how software controls need best to be modified in order to make them applicable from within VR. Aerosoft Aerosoft Team [Inactive Account] 51558 Posted March 24, 2018 Aerosoft Share Posted March 24, 2018 For VR we fully depend on the only platforms designed for that from the start, So Prepar3D and X-Plane. And even there is it an extremely small market right now.
