jwenting 16
Predawn departure to ensure we arrive at Adak during daylight. Going to be a long over water leg up the Aleuthan chain. Taking off into a blizzard, at night. Not everyone's idea of a fun way to start the day. Please login to display this image. Luckily the clouds didn't extend very far up and soon we broke through into beautiful quiet pre-dawn skies. Please login to display this image. Please login to display this image. jwenting 16
Slight change of plan, going to Kodiak instead of Anchorage. Our esteemed guest wanted to look at some Kodiak bears in their natural environment, wouldn't listen when we told him it's winter and the bears are all hibernating. Please login to display this image. OK, not a hibernating Kodiak bear, but it's a sleeping brown bear too. Closest I've ever come to a sleeping bear myself (yes, was in a zoo, everyone was perfectly safe). So, off it is for another dawn departure from scenic Adak to even more scenic Kodiak.
