Now, october 5th, heading for Creta, the engines are fully functional but with very dirty chassis.

Lucille was unable to find the same kind of yellow to paint them again.

Although we have the winds in favour, we cannot exceed 112 knots of speed. Maurice thinks that he managed to do his best with the spare parts he had.

At Creta, Lucille found time to roughly repaint the engines airframe.

Not the same sweet yellow. But it's ok.

21 minutes ago, Mathijs Kok said:

How the heck did you set fire to BOTH engines?

I was away from cockpit, indeed. (Ok, not the best practice, but Lucille had pulled out something for the snack...)

But I think that my T5 was too near to 700°C, maybe 680°C or some, for too much time.

For the other two legs I stayed at 650°C and everything went fine.

We are leaving Europe for Africa.

Starting a long intra-leg over the Mediterranean.

Hoping that engines will stay safe and sounds.

Strong winds directly behind our backs. 28kts.

(Lucy is tremendously nervous.)

Last leg was very hard.

Africa by night isn't the best client.

And a sort of volumetric mist at low (very bad low) altitude prevented to see anything.

We were scared.

I found help in GPS, but I had to get to 400ft to see the runway, which did not have the ILS.

Pfff!

October 10th.

After two days of relax in Sharm El Sheikh, it's time to point to Saudi Arabia.

Salt in the sea.

Salt in the earth.

(Lucille is tanned. Her freckles glitter like "hammadas" sanded by the wind.)

(Maurice is white like... like Maurice)

Long long leg, isn't it, Lucille?

There isn't fuel at Pump Station 6, nh? Look at those gorgeous, huge, silos of oil! All raw!

I think that Maurice will have to deal with the locals...

October 11th

The locals sold us only 1600 pounds of fuel, while we needed 1800.

I'm not so worried. We left 50 pounds of souvenir to be lighter, and I'm climbing at 0.5ft/min to reach the cruise of 15000 feet.

The password for this leg is: economy.

Fuel was enough.

Oil everywhere, even in the sea.

Maurice found time to make a portrait of Lucille.

Maurice sees her angry, evidently.
