CI calculation from Cost data entries ?

Recommended Posts

Christian - Have been a very happy user of PFPX for several years.

Suggestion for a new feature: Optional PFPX calculation of optimal CI using cost data entered by the user on the General\Costs section, and calculated flight time ?

Users might find it interesting to know where CI comes from at the airlines.

I'm sure you know CI is defined as the ratio of time related costs/hr (leasing, maintenance, and operating including crew) to fuel costs in cents per pound.

Since PFPX computes flight duration, it could also convert user provided fixed costs/flt to fixed costs per hour, and add to user provided operating costs/hr to get total time related costs.  Then divide by fuel costs, converted to cents per pound to get cost index.  Result = optimal CI, depending on airline fuel, labor and other cost components that change in real world.
