Weather Radar Active Sky2016and sudden Low Frames

Featured Replies

After a recent update to AS16 I notied that with clouds or overcast I go from 40 plus frames anywhere to 10 and then into single digits.

If I look around or switchc views I can sometimes get frames back to normal but it will not last.

Prior to this I always got 30 or more even in T storms ect with the biggest of airports ect.

IF I turn off Active Sky frames jump back to normal.  If I have even the original FSX weather with overcast ect I get normal frames so it has to be something with the Active Sky latest update and the airbus as PMDG has no effect and frames are great.

I am using FSX Boxed with SP2 if I recall and I7 4790K at 4.5 so I usually can maintain 30 plus frames with almost any scenery and aircraft.

Any thought or suggestions would be great as my buddy flies the A320 and was going to come by and take alook at the program but its almost unflyable with weather.

Thanks in advance by the way I do use REX Textures Direct and Soft clouds.

You should try to limit the AS16 settings, most important of all the "turbulence effect scale". But of course also the cloud settings.

Thanks Tom, I will check as I did update or change a turbulence setting recently.

I will try that but weather has not changed an never a problem even landing in a snow storm in Flytampa Toronto so very strange.

Let me check and I will get back to you.

No change even after changing turbulence back to default in AS16.

Strange thing is it worked great before the AS16 update.

I am wondering if I should re-install the airbus???

Same situation with PMDG737 and 777 yields 24 frames with weather and the bus now is 10 or less.

Any thoughts or things to try would be great.

The difference of the aircraft types is the weather radar. Obviously the AS16 update is doing something on your machine that negatively interferes with the AS WXR.

What if you switch it off. Does this make any difference?

Tom, I don't see how the "turbulence effect scale" could affect the frame rate. Is it reported somewhere by the AS16 developers? Thanks.

Search the forums here for it. It had been the cure in several cases in the past.

Hello,

I was experiencing maybe the very same issue you've described. I was successful disabling volumetric fog in P3D. I think volumetric fog is a P3D specific feature and doesn't exist in FSX but maybe there is a similar setting that can be disabled. Im my case I think AS16 uses volumetric fog pretty much and so it would not be an issue caused by the Aerosoft bus.

If I switch from Active sky to default weather update every 15 minutes frame shoot back to normal for a payware airport and that is around 30 Plus.

Very strange but makes it un-flyable, any suggestions would help but I cant seem to narrow it down to anything specific even after messing with setting in AS16..
