After my A318 took off from EGGP (having ran through all the checklists with copilot) my landing gear would not retract. 'G' didn't move anything. Clicking the lever didn't do anything. I then assigned a joystick button to where G usually works - using Controls. This moved the gear lever up half way and then it jumped back down as if something was working against it.
