Getting Low FPS

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

I am hoping someone can help me.

I get got recently a new pc, specifically for fsx. The only addons I have are the following: Aerosoft Airbus x Extended , Aerosoft Gibraltar Scenery, GSX and UK2000 Gatwick xtreme

Although, when I'm on the ground my fps are around 6 to 7. Sometimes my fsx closes down.

My PC Specs are the following:

Processor: AMD A6-6400K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 3.90GHz
RAM: 8GB
System Type: 64 bit

Anyone know what I can do to increase the fps on my system, quite annoyed I cant have a smooth gameplay.

Thanks

When you say 6 to 7 on the ground, is this at any airport, or just the add on airports? I don't have Gibraltar, but I do have UK2000 Gatwick, and I have to say that it's amazingly easy on framerate, as are most UK2000 airports I have.

It's a well known fact that FSX just seem to like AMD processors, but yours looks to be really fast at 3.9GHz, so I can't see this being an issue. Ok, it might lose some frames per second, but 6 to 7 is extremely bad. I'm wondering about your cooling system. If your CPU is running hot, I wonder is it intentionally slowing down in order to stop it overheating? This is what would happen on a laptop, as laptops generally don't have good cooling systems. Next time you have FSX running, opening up your task manager and click on the performance tab. You should see something like this:

The maximum speed of my CPU is 3.4GHz, but it's actually overclocked to run at 4GHz. As you can see, it's not really under any strain. It's running at 3.64GHz without any problems. Check your PC and see what speed your CPU is running at. If it's running a lot lower than the 3.9GHz you specify, there's a good chance that it's overheating. Make sure you check it when FSX is running and you're getting a low framerate.

which version of FSX do you use?

what are your setting (all sliders to the right might be to hard even for 3,9Ghz)

I have the fsx steam edition, what settings are you talking about the fsx ones?

yes - I'm asking about the FSX setting (scenery density, level of detail, traffic density, ...)

try lowering scenery complexity, autogen density and water effects by 1-2 notches and maybe graphic setting to high

Still not the performance, i was looking for. Other users have told me that fix will work strongly on an Intel CPU
