UPDATED January 14, 2017

The instructions below are for the Aerosoft Airbus A318/A319 and A320/A321.

There have been an evolution in the Aerosoft Airbus products. So far there have been three:

  • Airbus X.    Support for this product has ended.
  • Airbus X Extended (Latest version is 1.16)    Support for this product ended in December, 2016.
  • Airbus A318/A319 and A320/A321 (Latest version as of January 14, 2017 is 1.31).  There is also a Bundle Package where one can purchase all versions A318/A319/A320/A321 Bundle Package which has an great discount when you purchase both packages at the same time.

Support/Updates for the first two products has ended.  Customers who have the older versions are encouraged to upgrade to the latest version and will receive a terrific discount for doing so. Information on upgrade discounts can be bottom at the bottom of the Product Pages (linked above).

TROUBLESHOOTING THE A318/A319/A320/A321 SERIES

NOTE:  My thanks to many people at Team Aerosoft for developing/identifying the fixes below.

The A318/A319/A320/A321 series is a terrific, very stable model, however a few people have some issues with the aircraft due mostly issues with their system rather than anything that stems from the Aerosoft Airbus software. If you are having problems with the Airbus, please perform the procedures below.

Prior to starting, it's a good idea to first read through the entire list of procedures as this may say you some time.

Be sure to follow the procedure EXACTLY.

1. If you're running Windows Vista (and only Vista), and you have a blank (dark) ECAM and/or missing parts of the flight deck such as the throttles, then please check to see if you have the Windows Vista Update KB971512 installed. If you don't have the update you can obtain it from the link below.

A special thanks to Aerosoft Customer Stefan Gebel for reminding us of this fix.

You can download the Windows Vista Update from:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3274

2.  Typically, reinstalling the software does not in of itself resolve problems, however some people installed the Airbus without disabling their Antivirus and/or not running the installer "As Admin", and either of these will lead to problems with the installation.  When performing a reinstall, it is crucial to first uninstall the Airbus and manually remove certain folders before reinstalling.

3. Please install all Microsoft C++ Redistributables 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013 (32bit Windows -> 32bit packages, 64bit Windows -> 32bit and 64bit packages). After installing the base packages, be sure to install all updates for each version. If you have them already installed it is highly recommended to update them with the latest versions from the following link:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2977003

Many people have a difficultly understanding why so many versions of the Microsoft C++ Redistributables are needed.  It's a fair question as this doesn't make much sense to those who don't write software!  The link below will help you to understand why different versions are needed.  Please note that the article was written some time ago, and the list of C++ files in the article is outdated.  Please use the link provided above for the most up to date list of Microsoft C++ Redistributables.

4.  SimConnect Issues.

If the menus on the Copilot CDU are not accessible (greyed out), your SimConnect files may have been corrupted and reinstalling them will correct this. Reinstalling SimConnect will not hurt anything on your system.

PREPAR3D USERS

If you use P3D, it is very important to ensure you have manually installed all three versions of SimConnect as they do not install automatically. You can do this by going to the folder location shown below, and running the clicking the “SimConnect” Windows Installer file located in the Sub-folders (in some cases the file will be in the “lib” sub-folder).

- Prepar3D Program Folder\redist\Interface\FSX-RTM\retail\lib\SimConnect.msi
- Prepar3D Program Folder\redist\Interface\FSX-SP1\retail\lib\SimConnect.msi
- Prepar3D Program Folder\redist\Interface\FSX-SP2-XPACK\retail\lib\SimConnect.msi

FSX STEAM USERS

The FSX Steam Version (FSX:SE) automatically installs all three versions of SimConnect. It is very rare for the SimConnect files to become corrupt, but it does happen, and reinstalling them will resolve this without affecting any addons that you may have installed. In the default installation location, the SimConnect installers can be found in the following location:

         C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces

The SimConnect Versions are:

         FSX-RTM

         FSX-SP1

         FSX-XPACK

FSX (DISK VERSION)

Like other versions of FSX/P3D, it is rare for SimConnect files to become corrupt, but it does happen.  There are three versions of SimConnect that are installed during the FSX installation and service pack installation processes, but finding the three versions of SimConnect can be difficult.  The good news is thanks to our friends at FSPassengers, you can download a zip file that contains all three versions of SimConnect.  Please see THIS POST.

5. If after performing the steps above the problem still exists, it's possible that one or more of your Microsoft Net Libraries may have become corrupted.  The procedure in post by Mathijs below will identify any corrupt files and correct them.

6. If you haven’t done so already, it’s important that you install the HotFix (below) to correct the DIRECT TO Crash to Desktop (CTD) issue. You should install this even if you haven’t had the DIRECT TO CTD, but don't install it until after you've completed the reinstall as per the procedure in Step 1 above.

Best wishes from Team Aerosoft!
