I'm very new to flight sim and have very few hours on p3d but when doing a flight with the Airbus X, the autopilot will not follow the flight plan and will bank left, as if following another track...any ideas?

Make sure that you have LNAV enabled (press on the HDG-knob). You might be flying via the heading-knob.
