touchdown smoke

Featured Replies

is it possible to tone down or eliminate the smoke generated when touching down on the carrier?  the smoke effect is quite taxing on the gfx and just doesn't look good.

a puff of smoke is ok but it's just too much like a cloud that envelopes the plane...

In the Aircraft config under the [effects] sections, add the following line: touchdown=fx_tchdwn_none.

The hole [effects] section should look like this:

[effects]
vaportrail_l= fx_dummy
vaportrail_r= fx_dummy

touchdown=fx_tchdwn_none

What this line does is basically saying the flightsim to use the "fx_tchdwn_none" effect for touchdown smoke. However, since this effect does no exist, no smoke appears.

Alternatively, if you find a smoke effect that you like, change "fx_tchdwn_none" to the name of you touchdownsmoke effect and it will appear insted of the default tchdwn smoke

Thanks for that, calling a dummy fx file works.  i thought the smoke was built into the model so great to be able to modify it.
