invisible Block 100

Featured Replies

Hi, I purchased the F-14X a few days ago and it is a dream come true. I first flew the Block 90 and it was great. I then selected a Block 100, clicked "run" (yes) to all the programs it asked me if I wanted to run them, then I press the fly button. Once loaded and in sim I noticed that I was not in the cockpit. I press the F9 but no luck. I then pressed the external views of the aircraft and noticed there was no aircraft. I am not sure, but I think one or several of the programs FSX asked me to run when loading a block 100 may be the culprit.   Any thoughts, suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Which paint of the block 100 did you try flying?

Also have you tried reinstalling the F-14X? The only thing I can really think of is it did not install properly.

Hi, I tried to load the one of VF-124 Gunslingers, with the high visibility paint scheme. If I remember correctly (and I hope I am because I am bad at these things) I installed VRS's F-18 without the tacpac first. Flew that around a few weeks OK before I bought F-14X. Bought the F-14X, installed it, clicked yes to all the programs FSX asked me if I wanted to run, flew around in the Block 90 OK. Then tried to use a B model, clicked yes to all the programs FSX wanted me to run, then once I was inside the cockpit of a B model I noticed, once shifting to an outside view, that I had no landing gear visible and the canopy from the outside views seemed cloudy although I could see fine when inside. I then un-installed the F-14X. Re-activated my tacpac link with VRS, installed the latest version of F-18 and tacpac. Re-installed F-14X. Selected a Block 90. Clicked run to all the programs FSX asked me to run and flew for around 45 minutes no problem. Selected the Block 100 VF-124 Gunslingers in high visibility and now I have Wonder Womans invisible plane :P I am thinking maybe a bad install of the F-18 update patches and tacpac patches as well but I am not sure.

Hi

I do not think it will have any effect of the invisible F-14 but TacPack should be installed before you install the TacPack version of the VRS F/A 18E.

As I say I do not think this will help with the F-14 issue but it might help with the F/A 18E.

The F-18E worked fine. The F-14 Block 90 worked fine too. It is when I selected the Block 100 then clicked "run" for the all the programs FSX would like me to run for the aircraft and then got into the sim that I noticed that I am not in the cockpit. To be sure it wasn't just the Block 100 that was a problem, I exited the flight and returned to the main page and selected another aircraft (the default F-18), pressed "fly" and once loaded and in sim, I again was not in the cockpit and this time, the tarmac was gone as if I was on a grassy field instead. Something definitely weird is happening.

Update:  Great success!!!  All works good now!!!  I am not sure what happened, but all I did was exited FSX after encountering the problems, re-started FSX, selected the Block 100 and Eureka!  I was in cockpit had full textures and could not only see the plane but also the fuel tanks I loaded with it :D  I encountered the same invisibility problems with the Block 110 and the "B" model. So I did the same thing and exited FSX, re-started FSX, selected the Block 110 and it was there. Selected the "B" model, it was invisible, exited FSX, re-started FSX, selected the "B" model and presto..it was visible with all textures. I even did a few carrier approaches in it to the USS Kittyhawk. Caught a 1 wire but I landed it. Launched off and returned to Miramar. Not sure what caused the invisibility, but it seems to have corrected itself by exiting FSX then re-starting it

Glad you got you F-14 back out of stealth mode; computers are so logical and just so much fun aren’t they.

Take care.
