Trim reset?

Featured Replies

As some of you have mentioned, when configured for landing I have had to put in a lot of (nose up) trim on the downwind leg to keep things manageable. Is there any way to 'reset' or zero this trim before taking off again? If you do a touch and go or trap and launch again, the nose wants to shoot up pretty quickly and it is kind of sketchy. What did they do in the real world? It seems it's a guessing game while on the deck  - if I even remember to back the trim off. Thanks

I think there is a FSX button to reset trim, but I have never found this to be a problem if you are around the boat or in the circuit (150kts) you will not accelerate much above approach speed. Unless grossly over maximum all up landing weight.

Stick calibrated? You do need to trim to remain on-speed, but I have not had an instance where I was having to override the trim on a bolter or touch n go. I use trim to get my AoA under control, then small movements of the stick for pitch changes, which should not be that much at that point.

yea, stick is calibrated fine...where I experienced the 'issue' was I trapped on the carrier, then launched and flew back to oceana. So, I immediately went back to 350kts after leaving the boat. Once gear and flaps came up it caught me by surprise because I went from 15 to 20+deg nose up pretty quickly - as I came out of a turn. I've got it figured out now that I know what to expect... I just haven't flown anything before that requires such attention to trim. It's coming together slowly, which is good... keeps me interested

The only thing I have seen close to this was in the roll axis after autopilot disengagement using CWS (stick steering), then re-engaging attitude hold and getting an un-commanded roll.
