Removing the Mirrors?

Featured Replies

Hi! i have the Aerosoft F-14...i want to eliminate the in-cockpit mirrors (or at least the reflection)...there is a way to do it?

Out of curiosity why would you want to remove the mirrors/reflections? The only way I can think of removing the reflections would be to edit the global env maps, or the Mirror_T.dds in the common folder of the F-14A Pre 86. Mirror_T.dds looks to be nearly transparent pixels changing it to a solid fill might have some effect. Changing the GlobalEnv _AC_Chrome.dds files to a solid may also change the mirror reflections to nothing, but will also affect how everything else reflects light if I am not mistaken.

Hope this helps.

Hi, first of all the reflection is "ugly" it' s very low res...i do not know why; but the main reason is that i think they negatively affect the framerate!

Are you running Prepar3d or FSX/FSXSE? As far as I am aware the reflections in FSX don't eat up frames as the reflections are not actually a reflection but rather a texture sheet that moves to simulate light being reflected. In Prepar3d I recall reading something about actual reflections being possible but I do not know if they are implemented in the F-14X, or how they would affect frame rates.

interesting! i'm running P3D v2.5 by the way. I fly also the VRS Superbug (with no mirrors) and i have a good framerate...but in the F-14 i'm experiencing very bad performances! so my hopes were in the mirrors :P

I haven't flown P3D in awhile most of my flying is online and my community hasn't transitioned over to P3D yet. But from what I recall I get better frames in Prepar3d than I do in FSXSE, I can't really compare it against the VRS bug as I haven't flown that since, wow at least the past to fresh installs of windows I have done.
