Hi, There is a difference between significant weather charts, SIGWX: https://aviation.meteo.fr/affiche_image.php?time=1620745520&type=sigwx/uk/smpz_eur&date=20210511180000&mode=img&comment= and SIGMET (SIGnificant METeorological Information): https://www.aviationweather.gov/sigmet With PFPX it shows on the map the SIGMET but not the SIGWX. SIGMETs are only for dangerous phenomenas forecasted or observed (turbulence, icing, CBs). The SIGMETs (if any) are given by the weather center like Shannon, Gander, New York in plain language every 30 minutes on HF frequencies and I believe nowadays by computerized transmissions.   5. Hi, I have the same results than everybody else (22/03 - 06h00) so we have to find a way out. You could enter the winds manually and you'll have the SIGMETs as well : https://en.vedur.is/weather/aviation/wafc/eur-wind-forecasts/#type=FL240 Of course there are many sites for different parts of the world but I use this one for EUR flights. By the way, the Grib with NOAA-GFS is updating correctly (2021-03-24 / 00h00) Regards, JP

Hi, I would take the alternate which is the further away, in your case altn 4 and that way you are sure to have enough fuel for any alternate and your final reserve fuel would leave you the choice to do what you like. Otherwise if you choose Altn 1 you would not have enough fuel if you have to go to altn 2,3 or 4. Regards, JP
  7. @Richard McDonald Woods Hello Richard, PFPX works perfectly as well with short regional flights, with the Majestic Q400 anyway. Wind, time, fuel as expected and of course the possibility to tailor your PLOG the way that you like for your needs. I tried Simbrief and was not convinced. It is a (free) good tool but not as accurate as PFPX. Regards, JP
  8. ,20201204070710.pdf Hi everybody, I got PFPX at the beginning and I am very happy with this program costing around 50 € - US$. I know there are few things which could be improved but not much. I think Christian made a slight mistake in linking his program to the Flight Simulator as we have FSX, Prepar 3d v4 and now v5, X Plane, MFSF 2020,etc and everybody wants its favourite plane linked to PFPX to enter the Fuel, the route, etc. If PFPX is used as a standalone program, it works absolutely fine and, by the way, I am not sure that now (in RL) the OPS computer sends the OFP to the plane's FMS and gives instructions to the fuel truck. If it does I do not see how we can check the results. Usually, one of the pilots enter the OFP and the other checks it. It was done that way sometime ago. I do not fly RW since quite a long time now and maybe things have changed but not always improved in respect of safety. So, being quite old now (No, the Wright Bros. did not teach me flying!) as I started commercial flying in the early seventies, if we had a tool like PFPX we would have been more than delighted. Just for information, everything was done by hand (no computers) and I enclose you a sample of the tools that we had to work at that time. I never flew jets so with the sim I fly only the Majestic Q400 and I can tell you that it is absolutely spot on especially if you use the file done by Jon (BW901). To have a program which gives you so accurate figures for the fuel, time, masses, calculate the route (I know not always right) and let you buid your own templates for such a small price is absolutely fantastic compared to the RL computers which do not give always right results. It is just the way I feel about PFPX and, by the way, I do not care about the (+) or (-) votes. Kind regards, JP 20201204070710.pdf

  12. Hi, There is a way out. As I print on listing paper and it cannot be done within PFPX I just copy the OFP and paste it on Microsoft Office Word and choose the printing that I like. I suppose it could be done with some other program like Open Office. So you can do the same and choose the landscape format. Something like the enclosed. Regards, JP FLIGHT NO EIN 5487.docx
  13. Hi, There are few ways around. Some NOAA servers are working. If you get a program like Zygrib you have the winds aloft for 850 / 700 / 500 / 300 mb and then you enter the wind manually in PFPX. Of course you still have the old charts and they give you wind and temperature and again you have to enter the data yourself. We used to fly with these charts and we found that it was quite alright. Anyway we did not have anything else. OK, a computerized program like PFPX (when working) is much faster and probably more accurate but if we cannot get the computer to work we are not going to stay grounded and we have to find a way out. For regional flights the charts with forecasted winds work quite well and for overseas flights you take a wind average and load a bit more fuel and there you go. Regards, JP

  17. Hello Carl, I have never heard of such a feature on an OFP and it would not be realistic to have the ETA printed in advance for each WP. Stephen is right as you would not know the exact TOFF time due to operational reasons or ATC constraints. There is also lot of information to consider. When the OFP is printed and given to you by the OPS all the calculations have been done with known informations at the time of computing the OFP and wind, temperature, speed, FL, route, SID and STAR could be different when you start your flight as you may get a direct to a WP which is going to shorten your leg or to hold over a WP due to traffic and so on. An interesting feature is the time remaining so when you are over a WP you would know (roughly) the ETA at destination and could give the information to the OPS or to the destination airport when you fly in remote places who do not have full ATC facilities.   18. Hello, Regarding the weight, I agree with Netshadoe as I raised this point at few occasions and quite a long time ago and it has never been fixed. I use PFPX winds to plan and AS16 to fly and I would say that the results are quite good bearing in mind that PFPX is valid during the forecast and when you are flying you are getting (more or less with the sim) the actual winds. I never use historical weather. Recently I flew the ATW in 80 days with Aerosoft and in just about 80 hours of flying time with the Majestic Q400, PFPX gave me 57457 Kg of fuel planned and I used 56077 which is as good as it can get. Finally, back in the sixties, if we had such a tool as PFPX we would have been more than happy instead of doing everything by hand. OK, there are some little things to correct with PFPX but altogether a very nice planning tool. JP
  19. Hello Guy, Some time ago someone requested the performance charts for the DC3. As I was lucky enough to fly them quite a while ago I posted the tables on this forum but I am not sure if it was done. Anyway I have the documents and if you need them I'll post them to you if you give me an email or I can put them on Dropbox. Of course you would have to enter the figures in PFPX templates to make your own. Please note that it is in French (quite easy to understand) in Litres and for DC3 MAXIMIZER which was 12T700 toff and 12T200 Ldg. Slightly different than the original classic (11T880) and the one with small undercarriage doors (12T200). Regards, JP
