The Twin Otter is in the 25 euro/dollar class. (might be 29, we'll see)

Sounds like a well prepared plan and even being not involved in your kind of business (only as a customer) the explanations sound very logical and make sense. Looking forward to add the Twotter to my hangar!!!

Regarding the price my personal point of view is that going with 25 bucks should lead to higher volumes compensating the "missing" 4 bucks by far. As said I'm not involved in your kind of business but somehow 25 feels MUCH better than 29 (I'll buy it anyway - even for 50) but if I'd see the Twotter in the Marketplace for 25 and it wouldn't be "my" type of aircraft, I'd give it a try whereas if it's close to 30 I'd hesitate and would do some more research and think if it's worth the money or not.

It's just a personal feeling but 25 is way closer to my impulse buying threshold than 29. Might sound strange but that's it and listening to other gamers talking about other games as well, buying DLCs around 20 seems not such an issue whereas going beyond 25 is somehow blocking the "instant buy impulse".

Not sure if that makes sense and if you have made some similar experiences / research results that underline my personal feelings. For me FS Addons are still very pricy (not saying they aren't worth the money) compared to DLCs in other games and seing many new people entering the flightsim market with MSFS, keeping the prizes at a certain level might lead to total different sale numbers than ever before in the flightsim industry.

However I'm totally convinced that the Twin Otter for MSFS will continue to be a great success!

You are not alone. These short range aircraft always get the highest sales numbers.  The A330's and 777 get the big attention, but not the most customers.

That's intertesting to read - always thought it's the other way round! Love the modelling showed above!

I might have been a tad vindictive, but you are pessimistic, lol.

That's funny because most of the people knowing me in real life tell me that I'm way too optimisitc and positive - LOL! Maybe I'm a little bit off the line due to my break and coming back after a couple of years it was quite surprising to see how the community has evolved. I agree that 99% of the users are fine but from my impression the remaining 1% are way more vocal and disrespectful than in former days. And yes, it's not only the simming community or gamers, it seems to be the spirit of thesse days - doesn't make it better for me. For the silent listeners sometimes it's really funny (have a discussion DCS world related in my mind where a "serious simmer" explained a real world fighter pilot over and over again, that he has no clue how things are done in real world). However life continues and dust will settle!

Regarding the "mysimisbetterbattle": since I restarted my flightsim career beginning of this year I bought P3DV4, P3DV5, X-Plane11 and MSFS2020 and spent a couple of hundred bucks for addons for each sim (yes, I'm crazy) to get them up to a level I was more or less satisfied (weather, sceneries, aircraft, utilities) and it took me an enormous amount of time to gather all the information needed and configure the sims - making a long story short: it was a pain and if I wouldn't have been a real aviation nerd, I'd have given up. There was only one exception: MSFS. This may sound strange for people running a fully configured P3D or X-Plane sim but believe me: starting from scratch I got way better results way eassier with MSFS than any other sim and for me it's clear: although I love helicopters and VR, MSFS is currently next to my DCS Huey the only sim I'm using. OH and I can tell you that even the DCS Huey is fun to fly with an XBox controller ;)

  4. Very intersting post but from my point of view it's a confession of failure of parts of the flightsim community that Mathijs has to write such a post. It makes me meditative in which direction our hobby is evolving! I'd never try to explain people like Mathijs how their business should work and that he is wrong. Why are people, who are totally persuaded that another business model would be way more effective not starting their own business to prove it?

In former times I was rather active in communities like Hovercontrol but these days it's sometimes frustrating and therefor I've converted to a "most of the time silent listener".  I still hope that the positive spirit will succeed over the "I'm right and be gratefulfor my money" attitude. Having said this I think I'll join the path of Mathijs and get a glass of wine. Stay positive!!!

  5. After reading that the Twin Otter will be brought to MSFS I'd really love to have the Maledives back in MSFS as well. Made a short trip today but the standard scenery for VRMM and the surrounding islands wasn't that appealing to stay longer. And if not the Maledives maybe another tropical environment? Would be great to have the possibility for island hopping with the Twotter on floats!

  6. Yes it is but still a long way to go as there are many parts which need some rework, some parts aren´t even started right now. Here´s a little sneak preview. But as said: it´ll take time. If anyone else wants to do this bird and has more time let me know! I really don´t want to go on with that one if anyone else is working on that livery and finish it in the near future.

  7. well it is not easy but if you can be patient you might have a good chance that this one will be released in 2011 by me. I´m already working on that one but the progress is not far enough to show some pics right now. If anyone can provide some good pics or drawings from the side I´d be really happy. Everything I´ve found on airliners.net, jetphotos, etc. is good but the wing always hides some parts.

But as I´ve said: don´t expect a release in the next few weeks.

  8. This is a repaint for Aerosofts AirbusX in the fictional colors of an A320 IAE how it may look wearing the new United / Continental livery at the real world N440UA A320 (Version1), based on the Aerosoft paintkit.

P.S. uploading at avsim right now. Should be available during the next one or two days. I´ll post the link at this post if the repaint will be available there.
