  1. Hello,

I have a virgin installation of FSX on my system with SP2 installed. When I attempt to use any version of the Katana DA-20 all of the textures are missing (inside and out). I have tried installing the SP2 upgrade for the DA-20 without luck. This seems to be true for all of my third party aircaft.

I tried reinstalling FSX, SP2, and my third party aircraft without luck. The aircraft.cfg and texture.cfg files look fine. Is there an issue with third party aircraft and SP2? Is there a fix?

Any help would be appreciated, I really miss flying my DA-20 and my Flight1 C172.

  2. Hello,

I am experiencing a problem with the Diamond Katana switches.

I have configured FSUIPC to set the value of the offsets for the fuel pump switch (0x3104), master avionics switch (0x3103), master generator/alternator switch (0x3101), and master battery switch (0x3102) when I press the corresponding switch on my CHP throttle quadrant. If you write a 1 to these offsets it turns the system on, writing a 0 causes them to to turn off.

This has worked for all MSFS supplied aircraft and other third party aircraft I have purchased, and allows me to run through the check lists and switch systems on and off as needed. Unfortunately, this has not worked with the Diamond Katana.

When try the same scheme with the DA-20 only the fuel pump works correctly. I can switch on the rest, but I cannot switch them off. It appears that something in the way the DA-20 is coded is overriding my attempts to switch these systems off. The panels will flash as if they are turning off then immediately switch back on. I can turn these systems off with the mouse when pressing the switch.

I would like to use the DA-20 with my GA cockpit but I'm not sure how to over come this problem. Any ideas would be appreciated.

  3. Interesting. When I try the procedure that you suggested it worked once until I saved the flight and reloaded it. I then got the same behavior.

What I did discover is if I start my flight in VC mode the switches fail to work. If I switch to 2D cockpit (which works) and simply switch back to VC mode without pressing any switches it works.

It has something to do with starting in VC mode. The work around is to switch to 2D and back to VC. It looks like something isn't being initialized correctly when starting in VC.

I hope this helps others and your team to fix the problem. I have a work around at least.

BTW, thanks for the quick and insightful response.

  4. Hello,

I recently purchased your Diamond Katana DA20 addon for FS2004 - nice product. Everything works fine with the exception of starting with a cold cockpit and going through the pre engine startup procedure. Using Ctrl-E works, but starting from a cold cockpit doesn't.

With all the switches in the off position, when I switch on the battery/alt switch on I should at least see the generator and fuel pressure warning lamps (as per the included checklist). I get no response at all.

I tried Ctrl-E and then shutting down by killing the mixture (yes I know there's no mixture on the real DA20) and trying to startup again. No avail, same behavior. In fact even when the engine is running after a Ctrl-E, none of the electrical switches work. I can switch everything to off and the engine, lights, avionics, continue to run. I can only get the lights to respond by hitting the 'L' button.

I have tried reinstalling the add-on with out luck. I even resorted to completely reinstalling FS2004 from scratch and reinstalling all of my add-ons (to fix this problem and a scenery issue I had) - a five hour chore. Again, no luck.

Since I'm using your DA20 add-on as a procedural trainer I would like this to work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
