  1. Thank you very much :) May get some charters in ;) Thanks for considering what I can safely say is my favourite rw airport (to date) out of interest when Mathijs mentions the surrounding area, how much of the surrounding area are you expecting? Im guessing that it will be Heraklion it'self :)

So far I can tell that we will cover those parts of Heraklion that fall within the approach path.

The extent to which the rest of Heraklion will be covered is not yet decided.

  2. Emilie, will Heraklion X include the beautiful runway effects like in your Corfu X scenery?

I'm talking about the sun reflection and the rain effects.

For me, this was a very innovative idea and I loved it.

    Thanks

    Ευχαριστώ και καλή συνέχεια ;)

It is definitely something I am going to work on, towards the end, and will most probably (again) be an optional feature through a scenery manager.

    I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok not true love, but it is valentines day afterall :D

I love Heraklion, personally flew in there around 15 times..... I will buy this 1000% Is it going to have AES??

    lol...

    Can't see a reason why not :)

  3. OK guys I think it is time to call it ;)

The preview forum (my personal favourite) is here to give you the opportunity to have an extended 'peak' on what we are developing, and to give us the pleasure of hearing your thoughts about it. And above all it helps us make this project even better. I am very glad that this happened in development of Corfu X, and do hope that the same will happen with Heraklion X.

Regarding FSX/FS9 I can only say that we are developing a scenery that will use all that FSX has to offer, and that's a lot. This is the top priority.

But in this case we also aim for a version that will take advantage of everything that FS9 can do.

There is no point arguing on what each can do, I am sure you all know by now :) All we can promise is that the scenery will give you the best out of each version.

There are many things we can do in this topic to help make this project even better, but the FSX/FS9 discussion isn't one of them.

  4. Thanks for your help, appreciated! Have a great christmas.

    -Matt

Also, these transitions you see (water rise) are probably because the mesh takes some time to load. If you for example travel quickly on slew mode the FS engine cannot correctly load the terrain information in time.

In normal flight however, you should not see any water elevating on the terrain, or at least much less than what you see now, and these elevations will be sharp and nice closely matching the real ones :)

  5. Hello, in the aerosoft Corfu X screenshots I saw some AI-traffic that I am really interested in. I was wondering if anyone can tell me where the AI-traffic can be obtained from. (What software? What site?) I am particularly interested in the Olympic Air Dash 8 you see in the first picture.

    Matt

    Hi Matt,

Your best bet would be asking the person who took the actual screenshots, the screenshot master Nick Churcill that is... :)

  6. There is nothing wrong with the having two AF-files. One is used for airport modification, and the other is the elevation adjustment file, and both share the same altitude whatsoever. FSX has no choice to make between altitudes.

The problem with some FSX installations is that the terrain mesh fails to load correctly when starting in a remote location.

As I said previously, the scenery reload is a temporary way to overcome this problem until we can reproduce the issue here and troubleshoot it.

  7. We are still working trying to reproduce the same mesh problem, but no luck as yet. Without being able to reproduce the issue, we can only suggest solutions 'blindly' and this delays things.

It seems that the mesh problem some people have appears when approaching from some airports only, but is not a universal issue. This would suggest that when starting from an airport, i.e. LGSR, then FSX loads a cluster of files which are preventing our own mesh to be loaded on approach to LGKR. This however is not the case when approaching from EDDM as mentioned previously. For those who have the mesh problem on approach, the only easy solution for now is to quickly reload the scenery before starting the approach (i.e. create a quick button for reload such as R) and then proceed normally.

For those who observe the issue when starting at LGKR, this is purely due to own FSX installation problems, and cannot be fixed with an update, users must find the potential conflict with other sceneries. However, this is not something we have seen and is only rarely reported.

  8. Hi EmilG, sorry can't provide a picture at present. I have my own 737-800 cockpit, and a couple of days ago while doing a 360' turn to line up on R35, Corfu, one of my springs in my foot pedal PFC unit broke! I have had to send for a replacement to PFC in San Fransico, and it will be a good week until I am back up and flying. Electrics etc had to be removed to get at unit, so can't even turn on P.C.s to obtain snap shot.

sorry to hear that...it is hard turn isn't it? :)

  9. 1. When taxing out to R35, there is a sign that says: C R35 - R17. This sign is placed nearly across the yellow taxi line, and should of course not be there. I believe it is the original default sign, but unless it is my installation that should have removed this and has not, perhaps this can be removed

To make sure of which file might be the problem, could you attach a screenshot clearly showing the location please?

    2. Outside the departures section of the buildings there is a Hertz bus that runs along the apron. This is a nice touch, but it suddenly appears in this area; i.e., does not come from around the corner or somewhere. Today I was sitting at Gate 3 (I think!), and while going through all my checks etc found this very distracting. 3. Running alongside Runway 35 is a road, and as per the bus, item 2, is a car that suddenly appears in the same manner.

I know I could just switch off the latter two items, but I do like to see things 'moving' around the airport. As said just a couple of minor things really, but if they could be addressed with a future update that would be good.

A problem with animated vehicles in FSX is time. And by this, I mean that an object can be animated only for a specific limited amount of time, at the end of which the animation is restarted, a constant animation loop therefore. We did try to have an animation path that would not be revealing this loop too much, but the object density in that area does not help that much. Point taken however, and will see if something better can be done.

Thanks for the points made :)

  10. Thanks - will try that this evening and report back. Did notice that there is AES support for a FS9 LGKR, I would assume that would be the BGL for LGKR in my folders. Would seem odd that it would interfere in any way since it is not active in the AES config tool and no doubt many other users would have AES installed as well. Will disable and test to see if there is an issue with that. If not, will keep the files where AES put them.

Searching for a 2nd airport file makes sense given that there are multiple taxiways and such. Will disable Traffic X in the scenery config and see if that makes a diff - with no other scenery installed in the area other than at Athens - can't imagine where a 2nd airport file would come from other than the traffic program. I have AFX licensed on a different machine - Does anyone know of a way to search for duplicate airport files without installing AFX or ADE? Will install if it comes to that, but trying to keep my main FSX machine very clean.

Thanks for the quick assistance - will test and report back.

    J

Also try to de-activate all the LGKR related .bgl files found in Traffic X folder by renaming to .bgx, no need to deactivate the whole entry.

  11. With the first version, I had slight elevation issues between the apron and the runway, but did not take any screenshots. With ver 1.1, I have some really strange trenches going on and what looks to be duplicate taxiways to the runway - the elevation issues are much worse.

With version 1, I did disable AFX_LGKR_ALT.bgl in the world scenery folder temporarily, but put it back in service right away.

Any help is appreciated. Can provide additional info if needed.

    - Jim

The AES related files do not belong to Corfu X installation.

It looks like you have duplicate airport files. Since AES suppot for Corfu X has not been released yet, I would de-activate all entries of LGKR in these folders and try again.

  12. well i just compleatet the flight whit add-ons diabled and the result was the same.

It does seem that it has to do with FSX core (i.e. not addon-scenery files), possibly through installation of 3rd party software, as only 2-3 cases reported this problem.

One quick test for you guys. Go to Aerosoft-->Corfu X-->scenery/ and look for the file CVX_CORFU.bgl

Rename this to CVX_CORFU.bgx and startup at LGKR. Is this reproducing what you see on approach?

If so, then please make a new scenery folder in FSX installation folder-->addon scenery/ (i.e. Corfu X mesh) with scenery and texture sub-folders. Add CVX_CORFU.bgl in the scenery folder, leave texture folder empty. Add this scenery folder through the scenery library in FSX, keep it on top of Corfu X in priority list, and try the same flight.

let me know if this works

  13. If you try to land on RNW35 with crashes ON as soon as the wheels touch down (on the touch down zone) you get a plane crash.

No crashes have been reported for the runway either, not sure where the conflict may be coming from, perhaps another add-on? anything installed that would introduce mesh changes?

  14. Well for the time being, I have repeated approaches from different areas, including close and further away, and have found no such problems.

The airport elevation (ALT_LGKR in scenery /world/ scenery) itself is loaded fine. What seems to be the problem is that something is preventing the surrounding mesh elevation to be rendered correctly to match the airport's elevation.

Do you have all mesh settings at maximum?

Have you also tried inactivating some other installed add-ons to check that these are not causing the problem?

  15. ok thought i d let you know trhat by following mat's fsx settings guide, lower water too low 2x and turning off ferries and leisure boats, i managed to get correct fps and achieve my first landing in correct fps conditions

thank you for all your help

    E8500 running @3.8GHZ

The manual's instructions and water settings are important to adhere to, as these are the optimum settings that the scenery was tested for. However, more enhancements on performance are due :)

Thanks, looking forward to the update!

Please, can you also check the crashability of all objects on and near the apron and runways, I had several aircraft crashes in places where visibly I was not very near an object.

    Yes, done :)

  16. Hi Emilios!

    Thanks!

I testet it directly on the airport. The problems with the ground-texture at rw 17 is solved and i think the frames are a little bit more. (FPS changed already to unlimited)

Tomorrow i will test it (frames) with an flight from mideurope to LGKR. After this I will report it to you/here.

    Regards, Mark

Please be patient, as we now have implemented some significant FPS enhancements to be included in our update the coming week :)

  17. I m very glad to report our recent works on performance :)

Introduced a new object drawing system with excellent results, giving us 50-65% increases on FPS in full settings.

We are now checking its stability and will be included on the update in the coming week.

  18. well now i got it for a few hours and about the grass would crash the fs if the setting is on well it is becaus the grass is set to do so i see it whit a program and fixed it so im able to touch it whit out a crash so let me know if you want some info. or i just should corect it and upload.

    update:

About the helipad it is object whit guid: 7DAAAFFA-0E1E-44D0-98E7-044ACFF27BA2 there seems to be the problem. as when removed or changsed it stops the crash. but i cant se what the file is fore.

Well i found that the taxi lights use the FX_navwhih.fx file. so the taxi lights use White lights insted of blue. only by changing the lights for the plane in ex. X Graphics other program or manualy it helps a bit, but still it need an effect for it self or bgl light. Then there is the approach light from inflight to rwy 35 you can se from rwy 17. I think it is a bgl light you use as when i removed all effect files they stil light up. so if it is bgl light a SeperationPlane could be used in the ASM coding so it´s only visible from one side, or mabee by using mdl tweaker and give the light a limitation.

Dont take it negative just some advice as i want to help to get it even better.

Not negative at all, it is nice to see such interest.

All these are known 'issues' and are already, or are currently being, fixed/modified. I think you are going into many technical details that may confuse people who are trying to browse the thread for solutions to potential problems :)

Please use the personal message function for any further development enquiries/discussions.

    Thanks.
