Aviation enthusiasts, not a real world pilot. Network and software engineer by profession so I'm drawn to complex systems. While I've always experimented with flight simulation for many years, it was only in the last couple years that I've started to take seriously the pursuit of learning how to fly the various types of jet airliners. It's been very educational learning the many redundant systems in a jet airliner that make air travel as safe as it is. Connecting the knowledge of aircraft operation, flight planning, and endless navigational charts and concepts has created an addictive past time. Add to it the enhanced immersion of today's simulators and what seemed like child play in the past feels more real than it has ever been. Being a network/systems engineer doesn't start many engaging conversations. But, talk of aviation seems to get peoples interest a little more. Maybe its just me.
