  1. Hi Ole,

Since I will be most likely at a BBQ with beer in hand at the time the others wish to fly I will probably still be joining you at 21.00 CET. Probably: because BBQ can get a little out of hand at +30C. :bigdrink_s:

p.s.: I will be flying the Tu-114: has props and can do it in under 3 hours!

  2. Hi guys, it's been a while ..

Time to get back in and go online flying at Andras Field for the first time. I will try to be there at 21.00 CET == Andras Field Time?

Considering the distance I will probably be flying a Boeing or Airbus jet. A propliner would take between 3.5 and 4 hours, just a little too long when leaving at 2100 (and having to work the next day).

  3. My numbers. FSX windowed, settings as in the manual. FPS recorded with FSFK. Default C172 virtual cockpit, no weather.

    AVG fps 25,65

    AVG fps origin/flight/destination: 24,04 / 25,19 / 25,83

Framerate hit a low of 18 fps while taxiing around the airfield. AVG take off & landing around 24 - 25 fps.

Procedure: take off, circuit, land, taxi to the end of the runway, taxi all over the airfield, through the airpark, to the water ramp.

  4. So, any news?

Well, actually yes. I had my HD going bad on me! I have recently installed a new HD and have just finished installing all my software. Flight testing the system is ongoing. I expect to make the flight to Budapest tomorrow (16-6).

Thanks for the show of interest! B)

  5. Ian,

I don't know what FSInn does, but I do know it does something.

I had a problem with FSX crashing on start up after I installed UT2. Observations led me to believe that the crash occured when UT2 loaded in the startup process. It looked like a conflict with FSInn on some .dll.

After I uninstalled FSInn everything worked as advertised.

Now I have to say that I discussed this with a tester for FSInn who claims that the problems can not be caused by FSInn but since my problems were solved I did not take very much notice of his objections.

Sorry, I forgot the details because it is a couple of months ago and my issue is solved now.

    Hopes this helps a little?

  6. Well, after some interesting flights I finished my flying in Switzerland and have now arrived in Italy. This was the longest flight up to now but the next flight to Budapest will really put the little Cessna to the test.

I will let you know when I have survived that flight! ;)

  7. Ari,

I really enjoyed following your trip around Africa and figured maybe somebody will enjoy reading about my journey. Since I already planned to document the trip for myself getting it online was the logical next step.

I like your writing better than mine however :D

I will not strictly be flying VFR but since the Cessna can't handle icing conditions I have to be very carefull in my flight planning.

To be honest if I had realized the impact of the plane's inability to handle even light icing conditions I would have chosen either the Beaver or the Bush Hawk XP for this trip!

But then again this is just something that makes the trip more interesting and I will now fly VFR for most of the time.

  8. Hi Stephan,

I did not solve the problem.

I did the same things you did and discovered that I have no ambient sound. For me the sounds are not that important but I just wanted to let you know that you are not the only one without working ambient sound.

I hope it will be solved soon.

    Blue skies,

  9. Hi Ari,

Alas, I am not sure what happened on flight two.

It can be that I used the brakes too forcefully, but then I would expect the plane to have some damage.

It can also be a glitch which would explain the fact that there was no damage to either plane, passengers or pilot. The safest approach is to assume my braking was at fault so I pay extra attention to my braking now.

Your flight across Africa was the inspiration to document this expedition online: it is nice to have you follow my expedition.

Flying in a slow airplane across all continents and having to wait for the right weather now and then will indeed make for a lenghty journey. I expect to take up to two years!

  10. @Sayuuk,

I don't care about VATSIM or IVAO either. I have used both networks and both do a good job AFAIK.

For my European flying I use IVAO because the number of controllers available is usualy higher at the times that I fly.

Another reason for me to use IVAO is that FSInn and UTX2 don't play nice together while I don't have any issues with IVAP.

The ocasional newb controller happens on both networks and both have ways to control them.

But, as a wise simmer said: Anyway, for the most part I don't care whether it's VATSIM or IVAO, as long as it is one of the two ;-)

  11. I just have to plug my favourite beer. The best Dutch brewery:

    De Molen

    Ratebeer Best 2010

Very special was the award shower we received this week by Ratebeer.com. By thousands of beerlovers from many countries worldwide scores were given to beers from all over the world. A truely wordwide competition. Over 2.47 million reviews of 110,000 beers from over 9680 brewers were tallied. A particular emphasis was placed on tastings from the last year's performance.

    The awards:

    • Gold Award by winning 10th place for Best Brewers in the World. We are the only European brewery in the Top 10 and the only Dutch brewery in the Top 100. This list is mainly dominated by North American, Belgian and Scandinavian breweries.
    • Gold Award for Hel & Verdoemenis for a place in the Top 100 Best Beers in the World. Als the only Dutch beer in this list.
    • Tsarina Esra Reserva won a Gold Award for Best Dutch Beer. Besides that de Molen won 12 Golden Awards, 8 Silver Awards and 12 Bronze Awards. Almost 1000 Dutch beers joined this competition for 50 Awards

I just stacked my fridge at AF52 so come and get some!

  12. I agree with Stefan except for the part that VATSIM is more used in Europe. See the images which were taken at the same time just before I made this post which pretty much show how I find both networks most of the time.

The other points are good valid points

  13. Hello again,

Its a long time ago - something new with the sounds....? It seems, as I would be the only one without the sound?? I have put the soundfiles in every possible place, but there is nothing to hear?

    What about all the others?

    ????

    Cheers, Stephan

Stephan, I also have problems with the ambient sounds.
