  1. Hi. You should enter the ILS frequency in the ILS section of the MCDU rather than VOR.

Also, it should be sufficient just to press APPR as LOC is for localiser only. You should intercept from below the GS in order for the Bus to descend.

Once the GS is captured press AP2 so that both AP1 and AP2 are engaged.

  2. Hi Chris,

Well done for helping a fellow member of the forum, hats off to you! :bow_down2_s:

Would you mind posting the amendments you make to the default.xml to solve this problem?

    Thanks :)

Hi. Yes I'll do that, I'll try and get something up over the weekend.

  3. Hmm, I haven't flown Santorini for quite awhile but reading this thread has spurred me on to try and resolve my issues, which are, basically no AI and very little autogen around the airport and a single chuch and cable car on the hill! I've read the whole post here and the link that presumably is supposed to offer a conclusive answer, but I'm afraid I'm still in the dark. Could someone please explain in simple language what I have to do. I have tried a reinstall with no success.

Hi. For some users there is definitely an issue. I have been one of them. It has been suggested that it's due to UAC settings, but I totally disagree as I have mine completely disabled.

The issue is solved by amending the default.xml, it is easy to do if you know how. I could do it for everyone. Only problem is, you uninstall or whatever and it's all undone.

This really needs to be addressed in the installer by Aerosoft.

  4. Thank you for your answer! One thing I've noticed is that every time I get an "out of memory" error those spikes are present. Does that mean that the problem is probably only related to pushing too much from my graphics card (and not related to the amount of availabe ram) or is it just a coincidence? If it is only related to the graphics card, will changing from 32 to 64 bits then make any difference at all (provided that I reduce my FSX settings)?

With respect to the graphics card going to a 64 bit system will make little difference. The graphics card is not causing the OOM. You have two indications that you are pushing your system too hard due to addons and settings, the first is your OOM and the second your graphics card. I don't know what card you have, but a better card would likely solve the spike issues.

You may gain some headroom by going to a 64bit system and sufficient RAM, which will help with complex addons and high settings. But ultimately you only have 4GB to play with in FSX, so at the end of the day you may still be faced with turning things down a bit.

Try reducing your settings and see if this helps with both the OOM and the graphics spikes.

  5. Hello everyone,

I don't know if this has already been asked somewhere (if so, please excuse me, as I'm a new member in this forum), but I'd like to know if a computer with 4 GB ram and windows vista 64 bits would run FSX with Airbus X, World of Ai and Aerosoft Mega Airports without getting "out of memory" errors. I'm asking this because I'm currently using a computer with 4 gb ram but with windows vista 32 bits (which gives more or less 3.3 gb of ram) and when I fly from Aerosoft Zurich 2012 to Aerosoft Paris Orly, nothing happens (although I can see sometimes some strange spikes raising in the air when changing views, which I assume are due to lack of availabre memory), but if I fly from Madrid Barrajas to Aerosoft Paris Orly I get one of those "out of memory" messages.

Do you think this small amount of ram (from 3.3gb to 4 gb) will be enough not to get those errors?

    Thanks in advance

Hi. Firstly you must understand that FSX is a 32-bit program which means that it will only use a Max of 4GB. So you could have all the RAM in the world and still get an 'Out of Memory' (OOM).

It all comes down to how detailed/complex the addons are that you are running and how much memory they use. Your FSX slider settings can also impact this.

Naturally, more RAM is better, particularly on a 64-bit OS that uses >4GB. Now, whilst this does not benefit FSX, the additional RAM in your system can be used to run the OS and any applications running in the background, potentially giving FSX enough free RAM to use its 4GB limit if required.

The spikes you are seeing are not RAM related. It's an indication that your graphics card is being pushed too hard. Perhaps, back off on the sliders and this may help reduce the occurence of OOM too.

  6. I've sent you a PM with my email address so that you can send me your default.xml file.

I will add the missing entries for you and hopefully all should be good by the time you get in from work this evening.

  7. Hi,

    I give up

    Unfortunately I lost €14.95.

If you know of any other procedure, please inform me.

    Thank you all.

    Regards

    Rezende

Hi. As I've mentioned I believe the problem is with your default.xml file.

Do you feel that you would be able to copy and paste the missing sections into it?

I can guide you through what to do. It's quite easy.

  8. Hi Chris

    I have MyTraffic 2010 installed!

    Maybe this is the problem?

    Regards

    Rezende

Hi. I wouldn't have thought MyTraffic X would be the problem. However you can test this by disabling the MyTrafficX folder in the Scenery Library and see if this resolves your problem.

But, I think your problem relates to your default.xml file and the Santorini autogen not being written to it.

Did you install by right clicking and selecting 'Run As Administrator'?

  9. I have ultimate traffic 2...I searched for that file and did not find it. What else could be causing this distorted view? I noticed there are lots of issues with this scenery. How reliable is it?

The scenery is very reliable. The fault does not lie with Aerosoft. This problem occurs when a 3rd Party mesh product introduces a different mesh which then distorts the elevation of the Madeira X scenery.

I actually found plenty of files with the LPMA names? What now, rename them all?

No. You need to look at the path of these files, you are looking for anything outside of your ...Flight Simulator X\Aerosoft\Madeira X\Scenery\ folder and then do as Oliver has suggested.

  10. Hi,

I have Scenery Tech Africa, does it create problem?

No that shouldn't as it's only land class.

Do you use Traffic addons such as Traffic X or MyTraffic X etc? They sometimes install additional AFCAD files.

Search your drives for LPMA.bgl or similar and see how many files are returned and where. It may indicate an additional airport file that is conflicting.

    Chris

  11. Hi Brad. You shouldn't need to uninstall.

Firstly, if FSGenesis puts entries in your scenery library, unselect them for now and check if it resolves the problem.

If it does, look in the scenery folders that FSGenesis installed. There is likely a file, hopefully by name i.e Madiera.bgl or LPMA.bgl or similar. If you find such a file rename the .bgl part to .bgx

This will then prevent the FSGenesis file affecting Maderia and you can use the rest of FSGenesis product without problem.
