Angelique van Campen is, on behalf of Aerosoft Sim News, looking for passioned dedicated flight simmers who are able to write interesting reviews about any (freeware and pay ware) X-Plane products.

As a reviewer you should have the ability to look at X-Plane products with an open mind, as if you are the kind of customer who would buy the product and have an easy style of writing. No experience is needed, but would be welcome and English knowledge is a must!

When you’re interested in writing reviews for ASN and looking for a new challenge within the X-Plane Simulation world, I encourage you to send your application directly to Aerosoft.Sim.News@gmail.com or you can use on the website the “Contact” link.

    Looking forward to meeting you!

  2. I would like to give you all some additional information and also to reply to alehead's sentence "Could it at least be changed that the initial click on a link opens up in a new tab, instead of going to a new page in the same tab, which then links to the actual content in a new tab?"

As you can see in my previous posting, most, not all ideas are already implemented, but I'm wondering if this is the right way. Suppose you open many postings, it will result in too many tabs. With that thought, I've started a poll at our Facebook page. Let's see what happens.

  3. All interesting stuff about the Dublin project, but it has absolutely nothing to do with my thread. Mathijs, I think you went and answered the wrong thread here... :)

Thanks to Angelique for the information and reasoning. Of course, ASN's decision is final, but it has little effect on stopping content grabbers. At the end of the day, all it succeeds in doing is annoying me as the reader, as mentioned already. Penalising the average reader in an attempt to stop the exceptionally small minority with a method that does not stop them anyway is an odd decision in my mind...

Perhaps you could programme the links to open in a new tab of the browser, like HTML target="_blank" or something, so I at least keep the home page and do not have to reload it again and again.

Keep up the good work either way, thanks.

    A

I'll have a look if the used WP theme allows me to open any post into a new tab. The code is known, now I need to find out if this can be implemented within the elegant theme.

    EDIT Aug 24 12:54:

Nice challenge! Ok ... what's done so far ... when you click on either the Featured slider-, Recent-, Random- and the four Category posts, it will result in opening of a new browser tab. Still working on Random Reviews, columns and Interviews.

    EDIT Aug 24 13:42

Another challenge that will cause more problems since it's not a part of the installed elegant theme, but from a separate plugin.

When you now click on a Random Reviews title , Columns title or and Interviews titles, it opens a new tab except when you click on the thumbnail. When time permits, I'll try to figure that out too.

  4. Roughly how many words would you expect for a review?

    Hi,

It depends on the review title, but in general 2000 words or more.

We also have mini reviews and those are roughly 1000-1250 words. But even more important ... although we have a minimum of words, it's primarily the quality of the review and not the quantity of words :)

  5. What if the review is objective (ie -> not-biased), but not so "nice" -> it gives more negative points, than positive?

What Mathijs already said, it could be that the products does have some glitches. That's always possible.

And in my opinion, a review should be for 100% objective. Not always easy, but beleive me, it's possible. And that could lead to problems, but problems are there to solve. Solving means you need in that case to contact the developer/publisher and tell him about your problems, glitches or whatever you want to call them. Based on own experience, the dev is interested in this and mostly followed by a SP.

That said, a reivew should, as far as possible, always be reviewed with the latest software version. And yes, it could be that you stick to personal feelings like you don't like the way the manual is set-up, but then you also need to explain why this is and so on.

  6. I have alot of time on my hands and would like the opportunity to be more involved in the simulation community.I will be putting my hand up for this one.

    Hey Jerry,

Then go for it. I'll see you email at Aerosoft.Sim.News@gmail.com

  7. How often would we be called upon to write a review, and would there be any deadline for completing one? I might be interested, but I have college classes starting back on August 20. I'm not sure how easily I could juggle college assignments and product reviews.

    Hi,

Basically, one reivew per month! However, when for some reason it takes longer, then that's never a problem as long as I've been informed about the delay. It should be noted that it should not happen on a regular base. No, your free to look on ourt Bidding List and choose from that one, so htere's nobody asking you what you're gonig to do next.

    Does this answer your questions?

    If so, take the challenge!

  8. Do you have the right to skip an offered product and not write a review on it? For example if it's a product that doesn't match your interests. Personally I'm only interested in flight simming so if I get an offer to write a review on a train sim product for example I'd probably refuse.

    Hi Patrick,

It works slightly differnet. Reviewers can choose from a Reviewers Bidding List. The list offers all kind of sim add-ons. This is not necessarely flight sim, but train, bus, sail, underground etc. And suppose there's somethnig you would like to review, but not on the list, you can always ask me if that's possible.

I hope this answers you questions. If not, let me know.

  9. Do we have to review about our own products or do we get some products free to review? :)

    Hey d-aish,

I'm not 100% sure if I understand your sentence, but review titles are offered for free, in turn we would like a nice and objective review. The review title could be from any publisher/developer. Not necessarily Aerosoft!

    Hope this answers your question.

  10. Hallo,

    Hier erstmal mein Model:

    MFG Billbos

    Hi Billbos,

Since I can't type my text in German, I'll do it in English and hopefully you understand my questions. Since I have plans to buy the same iMac configuration as you have, I have got the following questions about your iMac system.

    • Can you - if you have the time - tell me what the overall Windows Performance Index of this iMac is?

      • Do you have all your sliders in FSX set to maximum (right hand side)?

[*]With all sliders maximum, what are you frame rates (I know this is not an easy question and it depends on many other settings)?

You can contact me also on the following email addresses:

      AngeliquevanCampen@upcmail.nl or Angelique.van.Campen@gmail.com

Thanks in advance for your reply.

  11. Hi Richard,

Since I'm thinking of buying an iMac 27" 3.4Ghz with 2Gb videocard and 16GB RAM, could you tell me what you're specs are, where have you placed the FSX sliders and what's the average FPS although that depends on many other things.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

  12. Hey there,

My name is Niall Hanley and I'd be interested in writing reviews for Aerosoft. I'm 16 years old and I live in Ireland, so I have fluent English and a lot of free time. I

have a bit of experience in writing and lots of people who read what I write think that I write it well. If you'd like to see a sample of my work, take a look at this

story I wrote about my trip in a jumpseat on an Aerlingus A330 on the PMDG forums, here http://forum.avsim.n...rlingus-flight/ .

Lots of people thought it was really well written so hopefully it would be up to your standards.

Hope to hear from you soon,

    Niall Hanley.

    Hey Niall,

    Did you receive my email?

If not, just let me know. Then I'll resend it to you.
