  1. Thanks, I will have a look at it! Good to know SAS does flights in the north with CRJ's too!!! And also thanks to everybody else who replied to my call for help: much appreciated!
  2. Don't want to interrupt the release-date-for-the-release-date-party but: does anyone know where to find real world CRJ flights...? Back in my P3D Q400 days I always (and only) flew real world Q400 flights in Norway (Wideroe!) and I'd like to do the same with the CRJ. So if anyone knows where and how to find real world CRJ flights (and also of there are any in Norway!) please let me know!

  4. True. Not me though. To each his own of course but I usually pick and fly a specific plane for months if not years. My all time favorite is the Dash 8 Q400 because it keeps you busy and it can be known inside out: other (bigger) planes have so many options and stuff that it is impossible for me to get to know it completely. The Q400 I know completely though and I like that: I can't stand flying a plane without really knowing everything about every knob, switch, screen, etc. Anyway, point of my post is that (since there is no Q400 for MSFS) the CRJ really reminds me of the Q400. Sort of same workload, same lack of automation, enough knobs to keep me busy but not so many options that I can't get to grips with it. In short, it seems the perfect Q400 replacement and I am to fly this one for years to come and to learn it inside out. I am seriously hyped about it!
  5. I'd like to repeat what I just posted on the AVSIM forums about the first CRJ tutorial video: I have to say... that's a very good video. One of the best instructional/tutorial video's I've ever seen. Very detailed, he takes the time but itsn't slow, he explains each and every abbreviation, what you should look for and expect... it's very complete! Extremely well done imho! You'd almost buy this CRJ just for those video's. Can't wait for the next video! (And the plane itself, obviously.)
  6. Well... what a bummer. Amazing how fast everything went from 'completely open transparency' to 'not sharing anything anymore'. Also amazing how the CRJ went from 'almost there' to 'no one knows when'. I have to say all this made the CRJ drop from the number 1 spot on my 'have-to-buy-list' to the very bottom of it... But well, since the CRJ is the ONLY item on my 'have-to-buy-list' it doesn't really make a difference LOL I am still looking forward to the release, whenever that my be. It's a pity how the communication about it all spoiled the usual pre-release fun of it all but I've still got plenty to do in MSFS so... no hurry, no worry. As @Alan_A said this does mean there is no real use in visiting this topic every day anymore. On the contrary, I think it's better to stay away from it, which btw goes for almost all flight sim forums I've been visiting (and participating on) the last decades... In the past I often spend more times on forums talking about flightsims than I spend actually flying. Nowadays it's the complete other way around. Forums only bring me down these days and often spoil the fun. But I don't mind. MSFS is a dream come true and I am perfectly fine spending my free time flying in it.
  7. Which is why I don't use mods: they will be broken after each and every update. Then again... I've read Carenado planes have been broken by updates too... Hopefully this won't be the case with the CRJ.
  8. I think it would be a bad idea to release the CRJ before christmas. Or even before new year's day. Simply because there probably won't be anyone around at Aerosoft to support the release. Even if the devs think the add on might be good enough to release it this week or the coming one I think it would be clever to wait until January. Why the hurry. The sim has been around for a few months only and getting something like the CRJ within half a year would be incredible already. January is fine with me. I got lots of reading to do anyway: the manuals posted in this topic and of course all those magnificent pdf's about the CRJ-700-900 on SmartCockpit! That site really helped to get to grips with the Dash 8 Q400: can't wait to read everything they've got on the CRJ!
  9. Awesome! Thanks! As I said I really love doing real world flights with the appropriate plane so... I will certainly do quite a few of those flights with the CRJ in MSFS! Doing the Q400 Wideroe flights with the CRJ might work too, of course, but it just wouldn't feel right. Now let's hope there will be an SAS livery soon too. (And yes, I know, the initial release won't have the 900 yet but the 700 will do until then. There always are limitations to what you can simulate... )
  10. Everything looks good in MSFS but yes, Norway has a few of the best looking area's (specially when it comes to colors!) in MSFS! Unfortunately there also are odd holes and spikes over there, specially along the west coast... Can't stop me from flying frequently though. Who knows I'll be flying there soon in a CRJ! BTW Thanks for the manuals! Looking great (as usual)! I absolutely love manuals so they will keep me entertained during the wait! BTW 2 Are there any CRJ's flying around in Norway in real life? Afaik SAS has a few CRJ900's but I'm not sure where they fly. Would be great to do real world flights with the CRJ around Norway (or Scandinavia) just like I did with the Wideroe Q400...
  11. I spend my last P3D years in Norway mainly (around 95%) flying the Majestic Dash 8 Q400 with a Wideroe livery doing only real world domestic Wideroe flights. Those were the days. Hope to be able to do the same again in MSFS soon! If not with the Q400 then maybe with the CRJ. BTW I don't live in Norway but I spend around 10 summer holidays over there during my youth. I love that country. In P3D I was using FTX Norway with the freeware Airports of Norway. At this moment Norway has some big issues in MSFS: hope they will be fixed soon. I fly there often nonetheless.

  13. This may be an odd question but er... I am a huge fan of the Dash 8 Q400: it is a lot more complex than a GA plane but not as complicated as the bigger Boeings and Airbusses. With those airliners I never had the idea I understood every available option, button, switch, screen, etc. The Q400 however fits my brain perfectly: I can understand and use everything I see on the overhead and pedestal and that certainly isn't the case with those Boeings and Airbusses. The Q400 also suits my preference for shorter regional flights. Unfortunately there isn't a Q400 available (yet) for MSFS. And then I came across this CRJ... I have to say it seems to have some similarities with the Q400: an overhead with a lot of stuff on it but not too much, no autothrottle, systems that seem to be of a similar (moderate) complexity... all in all it seems to sit somewhere in between a typical GA and a typical airliner. So I was wondering: am I right in thinking that this CRJ is the closest I can get right now (well... in a few weeks) to something like a Q400? Will this offer me a similar experience when it comes to flying, systems, complexity? Or it is incomparable and a totally different beast? EDIT To give some background: I've flown various versions of the Aerosoft Airbus and a few PMDG Boeings (MD-11, 737NGX) in the past. The Dash 8 I've flown is the Majestic one but I also liked the one from Aerofly FS 2. So I can handle those bigger and more complex Airbusses and Boeings without any problems but I simply don't like not being able to master them completely as I could master the Q400. And so I wonder if I could master every aspect of the CRJ.
  14. Thanks, Dan, got it! And er... I see where I went wrong before... I thought the file was a ready to use aircraft profile and so I put it in the Aircraft folder... After putting it in the AircraftTypes folder I could create a new aircraft in PFPX using this data. Got it now, thanks! EDIT Using Dan's file I created my SAS OY-KBT aircraft. A few settings had to be changed (considerably). I just finished a short flight with it and times plus FOB were pretty spot on (deviations from the plan were at most 35 seconds and 100 kg FOB, which I think is pretty good). Here are my altered settings for who is interested:
  15. I had seen that file already but it's a text file and PFPX won't see or load it... It's been reported as broken but I gave it a try anyway: no luck.
  16. Anyone here who knows where to get PFPX profiles for the Airbus A319 IAE? I want to fly with the SAS livery and need a profile for that. (I am surprised how hard it is to get a hold on profiles for PFPX!)

I think I might switch to the SAS A319 then, even if it won't be used for domestic flights in real life: it will at least feel a bit better then the British livery I am using right now.   18. I only fly the Airbus 318 and I only fly in Norway. Anyone knows which available livery can actually be seen in Norway...? The only Scandinavian liveries I could find are fictional Wider√łe ones. I'd love to get a livery that you can really see in the sky over there... but I suppose there aren't any, at least not ones that do domestic flights in Norway. If so, are there any companies that do fly with the Airbus 318 to various Norwegian airports?
  19. Carb left is alright. The first version of the Katana had the Carb label right in English cockpit by mistake, but the carb is on the left.
  20. I am also amazed why Aerosoft doesn't seem to care... I don't understand why this forum isn't moderated at ALL. Very strange. I wouldn't let my customers be treated as they are on this forum. It might be a reason not to buy anything anymore from Aerosoft.
  21. I also have a lot of other addons (GA and airliners, a.o. the 737NGX), but I only have this one installed... It's perfect for my kind of flying. Low and slow, no AP (which I had to get used to but it's sooooooooo much nicer to do the flying on your own!), great view on the outside world. Awesome plane. The best EVER imho.
  22. Ok, clear, thanks! I ususally leave my plane exactly as it shows up when I click on parked... so it's just as if every switch and whatnot IS saved after all.
  23. Glad you're back again! So if I understand it well, there is no 'option to recall all the previous settings' as Snave put it? So things like amount of fuel and oil and dirt are saved but not the state in which you left the plane when it comes to engines on or off, etc,? I thought that was (or coulde be) the case too. But if that's not the case, it's not a problem because I click the parked state now everytime. No problem at all, of course, but I just thought the Katana had an option to recall the state.
  24. Ok, I understand. However I don't have any problems with that same GNS in other (default planes). It's only in the katana that I can't turn the messages off. Anyway, I solved that problem by editing the xml of that gauge and now messages are off by default. The problem with direct tuning is still there but I sort of solved that by using only direct mode now...
